Nobody voted, court will thrash illeectigal elon – Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, APC chieftain

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has hailed the people of Rivers State for boycotting what he described as a sham Local Government Area election on Saturday.

Eze said he believes strongly that the election will be thrashed by the court.

According to him, the election was managed by a team unlawfully appointed by the Sole Administrator – Ibok-Ette Ibas.

In a statement made available to the media, Eze said the reaction from electorate across the state embodies an outright rejection of the political illegality.

Eze said there were only 23 contenders for the chairmanship of the 23 local government areas all of who are followers of the FCT Minister, adding that it was surprising to learn that result sheets for the entire poling units of the state were hijacked and kept in a private hotel in Port Harcourt, where figures were distributed.

He counseled the public to disregard what he described as “the cooked up trash being circulated as a result of the Local Government Councils election as there was no election in Rivers State but allocation of votes to Wike’s cronies.”

“It is pathetic to learn that in Emohua, Ikwerre, Obio-Akpor, Port Harcourt City and other local government areas where voters shunned the charade, the results churned out by the electoral body manned by this unlawful team led by the man from Cross-River indicate that the 23 chairmanship contestants scored votes in tens and hundreds of thousands.

“Video footage from some communities in Emohua Local Government Area show RSIEC ad-hoc staff thumb-printing the entire ballot papers for the APC because not even a single voter turned up at the polling units, yet a factional APC Chairmanship candidate, Chidi Lloyd was declared winner with over a hundred thousand votes.

“For an uncontested election to be this manipulated, it clearly shows that Wike has never won any election in his political life.

“The FCT Minister lost his polling unit to the Labour Party during the 2023 presidential election. He could not deliver Tinubu. But on getting to the collation centre, the entire results were changed,” Eze alleged.

Chief Eze is not even from Rivers State, does not know anything about Rivers politics. He keeps churning out these articles to impress I wonder who ... Amaechi? Tonye Princewill? Magnus Abe? Na wa!

That said, all politics is local. The political players will continue to test their might and their rights in this democracy that we find ourselves.

Too many press releases for so singular issue renders his message irrelevant that it becomes as loud as a dog whistle to a grown man.

The message just goes under the radar and is unheard.

Comment:
George Kerley,
Yes, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze is not from Rivers State, but he lives in Port Harcourt, Rivers State and has been living there for decades with his nuclear family. He is a media practitioner by profession and a partisan politician based in Rivers State.

Saying that "he does not know anything about Rivers politics" is not only untrue, it is utterly misleading. I'm afraid!!

I can say without fear of contradiction that not only does Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze know a lot about Rivers politics, he is actually a virtuoso and a very dependable source to reckon with when it comes to the nitty-gritty of Rivers politics.. Meka

PCO,

I was responding to Eze Chukwuemeka Eze's acklnowledgement of his defence by you.

Your rebuttal of my post of whether ECE ' no dey tire' is galant but not based on evidence or facts.

The incessant release of ECE's press releases which I claim will go unheard as a dog's whistle because of its repitiveness, is still what I stand by.

In any case, ECE's post does not fully represent what happened and there was no rigging but capitulation on the side of Fubara.
Let's look at the facts. Apparently, the two leading parties, PDP and APC primary machineries were ceded to Wike's faction either by commission or ommission. And Fubara people ended boycotting the election.
Even though the turn out was low, there was no rigging and the election is being deemed as the freest and fairest LG election in Rivers state to date. Of course, it depends on who you listen to.

Let's be clear, low turn out cannot render an election to be illegitimate, the boycotters only have themselves to blame.

To show his strength and support, Fubara although having had to concede the primaries of his PDP to Wike's faction as a condition of reinstatement of his government(allegedly), Fubara could have instructed his followers to vote for another candidate of choice from a third party apart from PDP or APC.

ECE's press statement may be right a degree, and I did not complain about the content but about the incessant nature. People become apathetic to a news or claims that are repeated over and over, and might not even read it again even when new evidence is included therein.

As an active media practitioner that you claim ECE is, he should know being active is not enough in communication, effective communication embodies precise and effective bite-size concise information, and not a deluge of it.

That's my tuppence!

Regards,

Femi Olajide

Here’s the passage I wrote:
⭐️⭐️⭐️I overheard in a Molue at Oshodi: They want to spend trillions on maintenance for the Third Mainland Bridge??
Trillions! For maintenance⁉️
And the entire nation will go into debt for that?
The woman in Gboko who carries firewood on her head…
The kid in Ipetu-Modu who walks five miles to school…
The farmer in my village who tills soil long leached of nutrients…
They will pay the price?
Let that bridge collapse if it must.
We’ll build pontoons.
Ferries.
Those will create new jobs.
That’s what a people-first mindset looks like.
A #BigAgendaAfrica mindset.
(That bridge) serves mostly the people of Lagos—
So let the people who need it, pay for it.
And don’t even get me started on the Calabar–Lagos Highway…⭐️⭐️⭐️

I’m writing again about the 3rd Mainland bridge because of The Government’s Response

ECE/BF,

ECE, where were you when Fubara was conceding the PDP primary electoral structure to Wike's faction or while he was ursuping the APC structure at the same time.

There is no need crying over spilt milk or bolting the door of the stable when the horse has already bolted out.

Let's call a spade a spade, yours is a little input a little too late.
No electoral law were broken if the other gladiators are unable to stand up and defend their tuff.

Strategy and experience are what separates the men from the boys.

Simply, Fubara came to a gun fight with sticks and stones. He had as much chance as a snowball has in surviving in hell!

My dear Bishop, I am still at a loss on how and why I should rest while evil and deadly undemocratic forces in Nigeria are on rampage doing all they can do to scuttle our hard-earned democracy.

Though the obstacles are becoming unbearable but I will continue to solider on praying God to grant us all the desired victory over these agents of darkness doing all they can do to undermine our nascent democracy.

I need prayers to continue and survive this struggle
Thanks and God bless you my Lord Bishop

Obi Kenobi,

Your post is too simplistic.
It's a natural infrastructure and needs to be maintained.
In any case, how much did the people you mentioned contribute to the national wealth?

i.e.

1. The woman in Gboko who carries
firewood on her head…
2. The kid in Ipetu-Modu who walks five
miles to school…
3. The farmer in my village who tills
soil long leached of nutrients…
Ask what you can do for your country, and not always what your country can do for you....I think that was JFK or some dead US president.

ECE/BF,

I wanted to include the quote below in verbatim to my response below, but I couldn't recall in verbatim. Luckily the next email I opened came from Obi Kenobi and he uses the quote in his byeline.

"If you will not fight for right when you can easily win without blood shed; if you will not fight when your victory is sure and not too costly; you may come to the moment when you will have to fight with all the odds against you and only a precarious chance of survival. There may even be a worse case. You may have to fight when there is no hope of victory, because it is better to perish than to live as slaves." - Sir Winston Leonard Spencer Churchill (1874-1965)

I think it is very apt in the Rivers debacle. A stitch in time could have save d several. Now the cloth is not repairable.

GIW,

The 'natural infrastructure' should have been 'national infrastructure'. My bad.

What is the cost of maintenance? $2billion? That's pretty steep.
That wouldn't be a routine maintenance cost. That is really a major repair.

I am not conversant with stated defects on the bridge, however, the defect will determine what work is required and applicable costs.

If the government wants to be transparent, stating what defects are will guide a cost and one will be able to ascertain an estimate for the work. I have experience in such infrastructures and remedial works.

The worst defect that will require such amount is subsidence which will affect the submerged columns and footings of the columns. That will require underpinning or piling, and it is a specialist submersible job requiring equipments that may not be available in Nigeria.
Even at that, it indicates poor and shoddy design and preparatory works such as soil investigation and mechanics simulation prior to construction.

The sum of $2billion is a huge sum. Being open and transparent about what defects exists will absolve the government.

Regards,

Femi Olajide

Obi Kenobi is not an engineer, he never worked with Julius Berger.
He’s not in a position to tell us how much it takes to repair a bridge.
A bridge is not a shoe that you take to a shoe repairer near your house.
Those wasting their time commenting on a project they know nothing about, criticizing the govt on what the govt finds out that the repair job done at N6bn by Buhari was a scammer’s job.

Questions Kenobi needed to ask includes: Was the bridge well constructed and what was its lifespan?
Dumb ass Kenobi, wannabe writer turns bridge engineer.
No news organization has seen it fit to go do research on the construction, past repairs and what the contractors gave as lifespan.

You guys should dedicate your miserable lives on tangible-s, like fetching water in a river with basket full of holes.
When those baskets with holes filled up the water pots in the village, call me.
I go come drink.

If transparency in the procurement is what Obi Kenobi was all about, I will be with him. If equitable spreading and sharing of country's wealth, and support net for those who are falling through the cracks in the system is what he advocated, I will concur totally.

We have to understand the paradigm of one for all and all for one.

Nigerians are naturally selfish and only look out and after themselves alone.

I had bought bought the same car and model for two of my junior cousins who are cousins to each other too, and one turned around to complain that the other guy doesn't need the car because he has a relatively well paid job compared to him.

I was so pissed that I nearly collected the car back from him. We haven't spoken for a number of years now.

We need to love each other more. What is good for the geese is good for the gander too!

I doubt if it's an overreach on my part to suggest that Nigeria is being gradually infected
by the epidemic MAGA virus which has taken hold in the USA.

The idea that those who use any facility built and maintained through public
funds should be the ones paying for it sounds nonsensical if not plainly idiotic to me.

It goes against all that I have learnt about governance (inclusive of democratic, capitalist,
communist and socialist
forms of governance) both by practical experience and through my acquired knowledge of reading
and researching academic papers on governance around the world.

If those who would use any particular service should be paying for the service
then we should compel new born babies, toddlers, primary and secondary school pupils
to pay for the cost of their diapers, food, books and all they would need before becoming
productive adults a decade or more in the future.

Some might even suggest that the total cost of these services and items should all be borne by their
parents--considering that the babies who would eventually become tomorrow's productive adults
did not ask to be born into this unforgiving world.
The children could in a few jurisdictions around the globe, sue in the courts for "Wrongful Birth" which
I doubt is in Nigeria's civil or criminal code of Justice.

I think this idea is like thinking like a toddler would--about how to solve all problems
facing mankind.

Where would most Nigerians alive today be without Free Primary Education and heavily
subsidized secondary and post secondary education in Nigeria?

Bye,

Ola
