Nebu,

Tinubu didn’t start the airport reception tradition. It started during colonial era and continued at independence to post independence . You were born in 1968. Let those of us who were born during the colonial era and witnessed the airport reception tradition and who had to sing: 'Olorun 'D'Oba Si. Ko Oba Pe Laiye. D'Oba Si', as Nigeria's National Anthem, to welcome the colonial Governor General of Nigeria at Nigeria's airports and seaports during the colonial era educate you on how Nigerian politicians and military leaders inherented the airport reception tradition.

For your ignorance, Yoruba ladies kneeling down to welcome the president or important dignitary in Nigeria is a Yoruba tradition. Of course, your Igbo people have no tradition. You did not inherite the colonialist's way of life during the colonial era, because you had no kingdom, no kings and no leaders. Just a bunch of village heads in red caps. We Yoruba people are cultured people. We respect our elders, Obas forever.
We are not ashamed that is what made us different from other tribes in Nigeria.

The first woman in red, who knelt down and shook Tinubu's hand, is the Chief Justice of Nigeria. How could this woman, who is this shamefully subservience to the president, preside fairly over any case involving the president or the country he presides over? Sometimes I doubt that Tinubu ever lived in the US -- this type of flamboyancy is shunned by successful people in the US, except some dumb rap musicians and drug dealers/goons.

Tufiakwa, Nigerians are really the dumbest Africans!

Thank God for his little mercies. Nebu will never smell the presidency of Nigeria nor the presidency of his beloved Biafra for that matter.
Good riddance to bad rubbish!

It was difficult for British government to recruit British citizens for colonial positions in Africa, because Africa was like a grave yard for the white man in those days -- cholera, malaria, dysentery, etc. were killers of white people in those days. To attract colonial workers, the British government had packages that were out of this world in remuneration, and often, people of low class accepted them and went to Africa. The types of benefits and privileges that colonial officers received in Africa were so humongous that their superiors in Britain could only dream of such things -- similar to how people used to be enticed (and still do) to go work in Alaska with outrageous payments.

When some Africans became educated enough to holding jobs that weren't menial, the British maintained the same remunerative largess in order to not lose trained workers to the corporate world. This was supposed to stop after independence, and after Africans had trained and obtained enough intellectual manpower. Alas, our leaders, of the 1980s to now (there was not enough intellectual manpower in the 1960s and early 1970s to have jettisoned the policy) stupidly continued with this idiocy and profligacy.

One of the jobs of a leader is to correct an anomaly. If I were the president of Nigeria today, presidential jets and all convoys would be gone by tomorrow; all salaries of political office holders would be cut by 50% immediately; I would sponsor a legislation to reduce the number of Senators to one per state and House of Representatives cut to half of what it is today. All of those colonial carry over allowances -- newspaper, housing, furniture, servants, etc. would be stopped immediately. In short, under the presidency of Nebukadineze, salaries and all emolument payments for running the country would be cut by 75% of what it is now.

Were Tinubu a leader who cares about Nigeria, his excuse for doubling the flamboyance and wastefulness he met would not be that the colonial authorities had practiced them. Not frowning at the actions of colonial authorities in Africa is one of the reasons that I doubt that Tinubu went to school in the US, especially in Afrocentric Chicago? Tinubu has political skills, but they are only for his self aggrandizement, not for the upliftment of society. Nigerians should prove that they are not the dumbest Africans by not reelecting Bola Ahmed Tinubu to their presidency headship.
