That photographer was cruel. Instead of rushing to rescue the animal, he was snapping pictures of the squirrel in distress.

Nwanna m Abraham,

I think that Nwanna m Igirigi was too quick in handing out judgement. How would he declare the photographer cruel when he does not have all the facts? The photographer could have done both - a quick snap and a rescue mission. Easy! How often do we get a snap of a drowning man, a falling man, a shooting accident, and yet rescue the victims? I think we can do both or even more.

Also, if you had looked closely, you would have noticed that the squirrel's limbs were loosely hanging down meaning that the photographer could have met the squirrel already dead and hanging. If the squirrel was alive, the limbs would have been holding onto the pole and the eyes would have been alert and puffing out in pains.

Well, a closer evaluation and analysis of the possible facts of the visual hanging squirrel would have been the proper scientific approach to the examination of the 'crime or accident' scene, ...some deep thinking!

Umunnam:

I don't buy all that. The photographer was a sadist. If he had any concern for the poor squirrel, he would have saved the squirrel without snapping a picture. He was more concerned about a picture of a squirrel in distress than he was in saving the squirrel. He probably took a dozen snaps to make sure he had an impressive collection to choose from.

How many of you have saved a living thing from distress or death? Did you record your act pictorially or did you jump into action and forget all about saving the act on film?

What a sight to behold. Letting that poor squirrel suffer an extra second or the time it took that photographer to snap that picture says a lot about your generation. Watching that picture of the poor squirrel without feeling the pain that the poor squirrel was experiencing says a lot about your generation. My generation would never show a picture of a living thing in distress for fear that some kids may cry. But a generation that boasts of Boko Haram and Fulani herdsmen finds delight in watching a squirrel in distress. Nnyooor.

Nwanna:

I may not be there when the sucker was buried, but if it has to be exhumed, who cares whether I dig from head or feet? The sucker will be out of the grave by the time I am through.

Wait a minute. When people are buried, they are buried west looking east. So the feet are on the east and the head to the west, looking east. So I know which way to dig, if I want to dig from the head or the feet. The same way that I know that photographer was scared of the squirrel and did not attempt to rescue the squirrel. I am the one who rescued the squirrel. When I asked the photographer why he did not rescue the squirrel, he told me he was scared the squirrel might have rabies.

Now, what do you have to say about that spin? The photographer was thinking about catching rabies from touching the squirrel. But I did not catch any rabies from rescuing the poor squirrel and taking taking it to the hospital emergency room for tender loving care.

Igirigi nna m,

If I say this one, I will not spend any further time on this topic.

Why have you assumed that the photographer met the hanging squirrel alive? Why are you not considering other paths to the squirrel's demise? How often have you seen deer lying by the road side dead (Road kill)? What if you stopped to get a picture of a dead animal by the road and somebody accuses you of killing the victim or watching it die, what would you say? There are many possible ways to think about the 'when, how, and why' the squirrel died but the least of them is that the photographer was the cause or sadistically watched it die. In the words of Igirigi nna m, 'Mbanụ, unu a daa ya!'

Ekwusgo m! Daal
