All:
I mentioned once that English is a funny (foreign) language. Many of us, myself in particular, get lazy about finding the right words to express ourselves, or to say exactly what we want to say. Here is how I read Nebu's comments:
"I have at my finger tips the criminal records of 90% of the members of this forum" - Nebu
First, he does not have it. He only has his finger ready to search the law enforcement websites for the criminal records of members. He is talking about his ability to search the records with his fingers. He was stretching it. Before computers, at your finger tip meant that you have the document within your surrounding in a file or at your desk. Following the arrival of computers, at your finger tip means that it is somewhere in the cloud or on the www somewhere and you can google it up.
Second, he did not really mean the "criminal records" because one can only have a criminal record if he has committed a crime that is of record. Here again, he probably wanted to say that he can search the records TO DETERMINE IF ANY MEMBER HAS A CRIMINAL RECORD.
Finally, the 90% was just an overstatement, period. It was just used for emphasis to make a point that anyone can look up anyone's records just as Aluko did.
Relax folks. In the final analysis, I will speculate that all Nebu wanted to say is that he can search the law enforcement databases to determine if any member of this forum has a criminal record. So can we too.
Ok, we have called his bluff, but he did make a point that doing so, AND RELEASING SUCH INFORMATION TO FORUM MEMBERS was not a good idea by Aluko.

Sorry my thought on having ordinary people say what Nebu means were not made clearly.
That's the risks we take when we assume everybody is on same reading and thought levels.
To be more clearly, an ordinary person's, man on the street interpretations of what they think Nebu means will be more believable than some of what, we, the so called college educated would.
One Chinese prof. I had in1992 once advised that we write in such a manner a child in elementary 5 and up should understand without having to think about it much. This may not apply if you are writing a professional paper.
Here, some of us do just that. The person that will win the price first is PASTOR Ken Asawara.
He is just good at such a style. You may need to cancel your job though to finish reading one of his postings.
Sometimes it pays to keep some thoughts S and S ( short and simple or short and stupid like some of us find ourselves doing sometimes. Sorry, I do not mean that. I think Lawal stepped on my toes sometime ago in trying to go close to being S and S.
Here too, I want to plead that no one takes it that I do not think people without some college education are not special, nor implying that some of us with some college education are special. I was just trying to make some points. I did this to prevent a similar arguement Nebu's just generated.

Viewed in that context, you are probably right. I just personally did not take Nebu's comments at face value. I guess when people's privacy is involved, it is justifiable for people to raise an alarm at such statement. I just did not believe that he had what he said he had which is why I played it down. If he did, that will really be troubling as ken said.
Thanks for your views.

Here are some proof of busy finger tips. No one here that puts an idea in words and hits the send button can deny having some busy finger tips.
Here is what Aluko made to happen: ." At my finger tips, I have the criminal records of about 90% of forum participants but under no circumstance will I divulge them". ( NEBU)
We are more interested in Nebu possing he can do same thing Aluko, the VC, is training our children at Otueke to do, while ignoring the honorable condemnation and rightly too, what Aluko and his foe did.
I think Nebu was saying anybody especially him, can do such mean thing Prof Aluku .
,( Harvard University alumni ) the Ibi man, taunting a calabash carrier with a probe did.
Nebu said too, I think, such access to such personal but public criminal hx of most of us is easilly accessible and vowed he will never leak even if pricked, like an ibi could, or probed or smashed like calabashes could.
Nebu, about the most popular ibi or calabash here has been probed as in use of a sharp and pointed metal needle, smashed as could be done to a calabash and yet he never went as far as knowing or publishing why Lawal ran away from Nigeria or why Aluko may not be able, in today's USA, find a job in the public sector or why Dan has insisted on being a " cabby" instead of being a manager at McDonald.
There are a lot of us with good education that won't venture showing up faces in today's USA work force due to some offenses we committed in those days we were young and invisible.
911 has reactivated some of our wounds and encapsulated some of us here. Nebu's busy finger tips analogy sent a wave of anxiety to some of us that know such a thing, dispicable thing, VC. Aluko and his friend did could be done to silence some of us here.
The issue of Nebu's busy finger tips should be deposed of Aluko and his foes and discussed based on how some of these new laws in the USA post 911 is affecting some of our abilities to make a living via regular job seeking and retention processes.
Some of us have to die here because showing up our faces at any exit boarder means
catcha m, hola m.
Some shall continue to do real estate business and notary public for same reasons and some won't ever try looking for a job that pays by checks because of child support obligations.
Can we please see Nebu's busy fingers as a can opener trying to direct our attentions to some "cares that infest" ?.
Nebu said he can sniff and dig but won't. I think he deserves some praise for confessing his willingness to apply personal constraints in such very personal but sensitive issues.
Today's USA will catalogue anyone in the crime logs for running red lights, failing to pay car insurance, driving with suspended driving license, smelling like beer while driving, being black and driving a BM or Benz, and for saying sha tap to a nagging wife.
That is the freedom we envy and we have a heaven, Nigeria , we have abandoned so we can voluntarily seek re-enslavement in the USA.
BTW; driving related offenses, or arrest records like Nebu said should not be a reason for you not to show up for a job interview or seek an Irik air ticket to Shagamu.
Good morning sirs and the mas that wear pants with these reluctant men.
Akusobi Dan.
