When the man, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, was nominated to be a member of the Federal Cabinet and faced strong opposition from enemies, the NIGER DELTA PEOPLE'S MOVEMENT alongside other progressive minded Nigerians fought tooth and nail to ensure this opportunity to build a better Nigeria was not thwarted.

We did it not because of any vested interest but for the love of our Nation and immediate constituency, the Niger Delta Region.

We knew the stuff Rt Hon Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi is made of, having followed his activities from the time he was in the Rivers House of Assembly. We give God the glory, enemies of Nigeria and those gullibly misled by them did not succeed.

Nigerians can now confirm our agitation was real and our testimonies are true.

We don't need to say much on his works so far in the Ministry of Transportation as they have always been in public domains; the commissioning of the Abuja-Kaduna Railway project being his latest feat goes to prove a point : Amaechi never promises what he will not do. He promised this and today here we are. This will go further to convince us that indeed in the next two years the Calabar-Lagos coastal railway will be reality.

No doubt, this ENIGMA is the best in President Buhari's Cabinet.

Chibuike Amaechi began his Ministerial position with lofty promises for his immediate constituency, but one year later, he is pulling exactly what he pulled in his second term as governor -- running for VP ahead of 2019. For his constituency, Amaechi announced a rail link between Port Harcourt and Aba, which was immediately hailed by all (including his political adversaries) as visionary; he had his boy, Dakuku Peterside, appointed NIMASA boss and his girl, Seminatari, appointed NNDC boss (president Buhari just threw her out with an Awusa replacement).

Reasonable people expected Amaechi to get the federal government to take over and complete the monorail project that he screwed up as governor (it can be legitimately done), but before that expectation could sink in, Amaechi began to run for VP, hence he cancelled the Maritime University at Okorokenko. When Minister Kachikwu tried to bail him out from the wrath of his constituency, by whispering into his ears that he could provide some sources of funding that university, Amaechi embarrassed him by tattling that secret publicly, such that Kachikwu has today lost favor with Buhari, hence his practically become a king without a throne now.

You have, on your own, enumerated the locations where work is on-going (indeed in geometric progression) in Amaechi's master plan. And this is beside the ones he has already completed and delivered for which the people of Nigeria are happy and jubilating, even as we discuss.  What does this add up to? It goes without saying that Amaechi is a performing minister in Buhari's team. This is the message that Sir Rowland Orlu is passing which I have helped to disseminate.

Amaechi has spent just one year in office. And has got something to show for it! He still has about three more years to serve in that capacity - ceteris paribus. So, if Port Harcourt and Aba have not yet got their own share of the Amaechi's holistic master plan, that doesn't mean they would not get it and that doesn't remove a bit from Amaechi's scale of performance.

So, by your judgment, if Amaechi had done the Port Harcourt - Aba Railway link and delivered it first before starting work on Abuja - Kaduna zone, he would have been a performer, abi?  No! No! No! That is a mindset of parochialism and selfishness! The reason why the country is now witnessing a proliferation of agitations for ethnic and zonal independence is because of people who think like you that unwittingly found themselves in leadership positions. Too bad!

I make bold to say that Amaechi's, under-performance in the second term of his tenure as Governor of Rivers State is a function of the orchestrated diabolical plan of Abuja (ex-President Jonathan and his wife Patience) to frustrate him by all means. In fighting a war of survival to that effect, Amaechi was  badly distracted! And who wouldn't be?

If a man who has done absolutely nothing in his capacity as a minister of transportation is touted as the best performing then Nigeria is in real trouble. The train tracks from Abuja to Kaduna touted below was completed by APC came to power. In fact this track was tested while Jonathan was in office and If he, Jonathan, wanted to do so he would have commissioned this track before he left office. 

Why does Amaechi continue to involve himself in this frivolous pursuit of pettiness? Why not let the people decide on his handwork. Everybody sings the praises of Peter Obi in Anambra state because they saw the job on the ground and there was no mega horn behind it..

This idiocy needs to stop. From the debacle to be Rivers State House Speaker to the Governors Forum to the Vice President brouhaha to the Super Minister rumor to all other noise, everything surrounds just one man, Chibuike Amaechi. Something is wrong folks.

What is the rationale for clapping and singing hosannas every time a public official does what he is supposed to do in Nigeria?  Sometimes I wonder why praise singing has practically become an industry in Nigeria.  A transportation minister does what a transportation minister should and is expected to do, and praise singing erupts all over the place.  If the minister didn't accomplish what is in his portfolio, what else should he be doing?  

Praise singing in this and other instances are grossly misplaced because people are put into offices out of the judgment that they will be able to function and accomplish the duties associated with the office.  Any other alternative perspective to that settled expectation is irrational and retarded.

Whether Jonathan started the project and abandoned it or whether Amaechi started the project from the scratch or picked it up from whence Jonathan abandoned it, it's totally immaterial. What matters is that Amaechi has just completed a project and commissioned it. And so, it's to his credit!

If Jonathan ever has the opportunity of leading a political organisation again, tell him to learn how not to abandon projects.

I have not seen this side of Emeka's before. Wow! I did not know he too will support mediocre performance just because the person involved is "homeboy". This is FANTASTICALLY bloody nonsense. Ehn! We can kiss good bye to progress in Nigeria with the OLD GENERATION (those over 61 years old), they have failed us, the NEXT GENERATION and Nigeria.

The future of Nigeria now rest with the NEXT GENERATION (those between 31 years to 60) in the next 20 years - with those in their 50s, like myself ready to guide those in the 30s, because the COMING GENERATION would begin to ascend to power 20 years from now based on the foundation we lay for them, good or bad. My point - people like Emeka are bad examples when they would support mediocre performances from their homeboys instead of holding them ACCOUNTABLE. Tufiakwa

What are you talking about? Did Amaechi commission the Abuja - Kaduna rail line or not? Was that train line completed by him or not? If the answers to these questions are in the affirmative, then why should you give credit to the one who started a project and failed to deliver, instead of the one who completed the project and delivered? I don't get it!

In Rivers State today, there are many uncompleted road construction projects started by Amaechi Administration. Now Governor Wike has picked up those projects - some of them have been completed by him whilst work on others is still on-going. Do you mean that credit should be given to Amaechi for each of those projects completed by Wike because they were started by Amaechi? Of course Wike is already taking due credit for those projects as he completes them.

You guys seem to hate Amaechi with passion. If I may ask; what is his sin? Is it because he resisted Jonathan and his wife Patience in all fronts and prevailed? Lord have mercy!

So my position is clear, the issue that got me participating in this thread is not that Amaechi completed or completes a project started by another administration as he should do. The issue is/was completing a project that was the VISION of another - another person another administration another government -does to rise to an AMAZING PERFORMANCE or performer. In fact finishing the work of another is sorry, so it does not necessitate the accolades bestowed on Amaechi by the likes of Emeka that prompted the participations of some of us that joined this thread. Seriously, some expect better from the person of Emeka given his credentials. 

Amaechi must create, build, and complete projects before buttlickers like Emeka commences their marathon buttlicking escapade that is the point from my perspective. Full stop!

You are entitled to the gibberish you write and you can continue in it the much you want. That notwithstanding, let me correct the misinformation, nay, blatant lie in your post - that Emeka bestowed accolades on Amaechi for completing a project and that, that triggered off this thread.

I put it to you that Emeka did not bestow any form of accolade on Amaechi on this occasion. He saw an item of news on Amaechi, making the round of the Facebook and, he merely shared it here verbatim. The name of the writer and everything about the news are clearly glaring, but like everything Emeka on the listserve, he (the messenger,) as opposed to the real owner of the message was/is being directly and wrongly attacked. I'm not surprised though, because the attack is coming from its usual direction - you and the headless-chicken Biafran agitators. And I'm equal to the task anytime, any day!

He promised this and today here we are. This will go further to convince us that indeed in the next two years the Calabar-Lagos coastal railway will be reality.

No doubt, this ENIGMA is the best in President Buhari's Cabinet.

Chinese firm rounds off track-laying work in Nigeria's first standard rail project Dec 01,2014 ABUJA, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Chinese rail construction giant China Railway Construction Corporation (CRCC) on Monday officially rounded off the track laying work of Nigeria's first standard gauge railway modernization project linking the capital city Abuja and the northwestern state of Kaduna. With Nigeria's Minister of Transport Idris Umar tightening the last screw of the rail track at a well-attended ceremony, the first standard rail road project of the Chinese firm in Nigeria and the entire West Africa is formally complete for public use, CRCC said. Constructed in three years, the rail road project gulped nearly 850 million U.S dollars and lasts 186.5 km with nine stations and a design speed of 150 km per hour. Umar, while expressing satisfaction on the project on behalf the Nigerian government and people of Africa's most populous country, described the project as a significant milestone in the history of Nigeria, as well as a testimony that the transformation agenda of the government was yielding fruitful results. "I am delighted to be here to perform yet another milestone of the Nigerian railway modernization project," Umar said, noting it will ease the mass movement of people from the Nigerian capital city to the northwestern state of Kaduna. "We are committed to carry out a lot of modernization projects to make transportation easier for all Nigerians," the official added. Shi Hongbing, managing director of the Nigerian office of China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), an offshoot of CRCC, said the company would take part in the running and management of the train in the future. My Good Friend and Nwanna; please back-pedal on this road to nowhere. Any Nigerian on the internet forums that pays attention to what takes place in Nigeria would recall that in 2014 or there about, the photos below were circulated in the local Nigerian Newspapers hailing the works done on new and reconstructed Nigerian Railways by some Chinese engineering firms. And the displays were done with great funfair as can be seen in the photos below with former President Jonathan and some VIPs in prideful walks inspecting their accomplishments.  So, I see neither reason nor rhyme for Minister Chibuike Amaechi to claim credit for works started and completed by his predecessor and the administration of former President Jonathan. It is always fraudulent if and when one claims or appropriates for self another person’s accomplishments. I understand that the alleged claim by Minister Amaechi emanated from Facebook. Well; the question is, how authentic is it that Minister Chibuike Amaechi is indeed, the one that ascribed that accomplishment of former President Jonathan’s administration as his within the less than one year he was appointed Minister for Transportation? I am hesitant to believe he made such claim himself. The reconstructed and the new Railways took more than three years to complete. Common sense would tell those making the claims on Minister Chibuike Amaechi’s behalf or himself making such ridiculous claim that such feat of public service accomplishment in Nigerian less than one year in office is impossible. There is always, the Nigerian factor in public service projects. Minister Chibuike Amaechi should pay serious attention to the projects he has started and complete them to his credit and glory of the country. There, the honor lies for him and not in reshow-casing and claiming as his accomplishment, the projects already completed or that were near completion before his predecessor(s) left office.

Stop embarrassing yourself; Amaechi did not commission anything, he is only taking credit for what was begun and paid for by the Jonathan administration -- I just got the information from my source at Aso Rock. Amaechi's sole initiative was the Port Harcourt-Aba shuttle, a noble and visionary idea that has not seen the light of day in typical Amaechi job performance, like the monorail. The Calabar-Lagos coastal rail was also initiated by Ebele's administration. Awusa and Yoroba want it completed quickly because it is not a passenger rail system; its purpose is to hasten the exportation of mineral resources out of the Niger Delta.

I saw a news item on the facebook and, like anyone, I shared it verbatim in these fora. The news was boldly reported by one Sir Rowland Orlu who signed of as Director of Communications, Niger Delta Movement. He praised Amaechi for completing and commissioning a railway link project and supplied convincing photographs to that effect. And I believed him - given that an already commissioned project by a government cannot be re-commissioned by another government.

If it turns out that what Amaechi did was a 419 as it now looks, then the onus to offer an apology falls on Sir Rowland Orlu and Amaechi himself who hoodwinked everyone - including this writer to believe that Amaechi completed and commissioned that project.

To Wilson Iguade, you are free to play with words the much you want, but truth is that this writer has no basis to offer anyone any apology for merely sharing a news item. I would have kept you quiet which is what you deserve on this occasion, but for the insinuations of the gullible. Please stop being silly!

The President said:  “I am delighted to be here today to commission Abuja-Kaduna rail track and flag off the Abuja-Kaduna train services (Passengers & Freight) on Nigeria’s first ever Standard Gauge Rail track to go into operation.

Also, Kaduna State governor, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai, said the vision of the Obasanjo administration at the time was to have a brand new standard gauge rail system for Nigeria, running from north to south, east to west, and covering the entire country. “The first phase was the Lagos-Kano rail at a price of about $8billion if I recall and it was supposed to be completed in four years. ‘’Sadly our successors did not fight, understand or share in this vision and the project was suspended and the result is that 10years after awarding this contract we are standing here today to commission a fraction of that project.” 

“As governor of Kaduna State, I am grateful and gratified that the Abuja-Kaduna segment of the Lagos-Kano rail system is being commissioned today. The impact of this rail line to Kaduna cannot be easily quantified in terms of social and economic benefits. It would be recall that that an agreement was signed between Nigeria and the CCECC of China for construction of a standard gauge Lagos-Kaduna rail line, costing $8.3 billion. 

On his part, the Managing director of CCECC, Mr Jack Li, said the construction company attached  great importance to the actualization of this first section of Nigeria railway modernization project. 

“During construction, more than 1,000 sets of machinery and equipment were mobilized, over 5,000 jobs created during the construction period and during its operation. More than 1,000 permanent jobs were created, additional to over 10,000 job opportunity that will come as a result of this train operation,” he said.
