The importance of Youth in politics and the Role Family

Some say: “politics is science to manage the country or state“‘ but the fact remains that Youth is young blood of nation and active worker of nation. So, it is very necessary that for a nation to thrive, there must be an active participation by the Youth in national cultural life. The disparity between high population growth and low job creation in Sub-Saharan Africa presents an alarming youth crisis and a serious concern. Sub-Saharan Africa is the youngest region in the World and the youth population is expected to double by 2045. As Sanusi Lamido puts it, what does it take for one youth to capture the imagination of others and inspire their votes, since they are the majority? Only the youth are in the position to take power away from oligarchs who abuse them.

So why are there not enough numbers of youth in politics? Why are there not enough youth in government? Why are youth not in power?

Clearly, there is a need for youth to participate in political life and there is a chance for the youth to become leaders of a nations. Perhaps, this way we can reduce corruption, violence…

However, many questions remain unanswered and perhaps untested. Can youth manage the responsibility of running the whole country? What does it take to inspire the youth to actively participate in political life? What are the role of parents and guardians? How we as society and family influence the youth in their political acts, choice and interest?

What is the role of policy makers on the youth participation in politics, how and what can be done to improve this?
