Three days ago, I tried to ring Dr Apollo, but no answer. Early this morning, I found that he had passed away. I was very saddened by the news. I went to work and then I got the below email as I was starting to teach. I got very stressed and the teacher who I was supervising went and told the Principal about my situation. The Principal came to me and she said to me that if I want to go home, it will be OK and she will pay me for the day. I said, “no, I will be OK“ She asked me to go with her to the staff room and she made me a cup of coffee and gave me a newspaper and said to me to relax and she will find another teacher to be with the children for about 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, I was OK and continued with the teaching of the day. Very understanding leadership. .

Dear John
Many thanks for your e-mail and information.
I am deeply saddened by the death of my remarkable friend and fellow Ambassador for Peace Dr Apollo Nsubuga-Kyobe. Unrivalled and inspirational throughout his career. He was one of the best, and we are so fortunate to have had him in our lives. He will forever be remembered in the highest regard.
I was fortunate enough to work closely with Dr Apollo Nsubuga-Kyobe on several occasions over the years and every time I met him, I was struck by both the force of his personality and the quality of his intellect. His passion for the African Community in Australia and World Peace shone through in everything he did.
I, like so many others, will miss him more than it is possible to describe and send my most heartfelt condolences to his family and to everyone who knew him. We have lost a true hero.
