Attached to this message you will find a MDH Clinician Letter containing an important update on following the identification of a human case of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) A(H5N1) virus in Texas, the Maryland Department of Health urges clinicians in Maryland to consider the possibility of HPAI A(H5N1) virus infection in persons showing signs or symptoms of acute respiratory illness who have relevant exposure history.
