Dear Colleagues,

We hope that this message finds you all well. We are now in the process of finalizing the updates to Least Concern (LC) Sub-Saharan (continental) African Amphibians and are ready to move on to the Data Deficient (DD) species as our next update focus for the region. We are seeking your input regarding new information that may result in a status change for these species. In particular, we are looking for:

1)     Any new information that is likely to move the species out of the DD category

2)  IInformation on past taxonomic splits that may have resulted in a change in species taxonomy

Please find attached a spreadsheet with a list of DD species for Sub-Saharan Africa (minus Madagascar and South Africa). We have excluded those species that have already been reassessed or are in the process of being reassessed. Please note that assessments that are not highlighted for changes will be channeled through the review process with current content.

We would be very grateful if you could please provide feedback to Ariadne Angulo (ariadne...@iucn.org) by October 4, 2013. We will make sure to add new information and any new contributors to the assessment(s) in question. Also, please let us know if you are aware of any experts that are not part of the African Amphibian Googlegroups so that we can also add them to the email list.

Thank you in advance for your help with this initiative.

Best wishes,

Ariadne Angulo, PhD
