Dear Colleagues,

We hope that this message finds you all well. We are currently updating the IUCN Red List assessments for Least Concern (LC) Sub-Saharan (continental) African Amphibians. We are seeking your input regarding new information that may result in a status change for these species. In particular, we are looking for information on:

1) Taxonomic splits that may have resulted in a change in species taxonomy/new species

2) Known range contractions or population declines that are likely to alter a species’ Red List status

As we are processing LC species before Data Deficient ones, we are not looking to add any locality point data that fall within the current range, or that extend it marginally. If dramatic range contractions are evident, these data will be very useful.

Please find attached a spreadsheet containing a worksheet with a list of LC species for Sub-Saharan Africa (minus Madagascar and South Africa) and another worksheet for South Africa (we have split South African species as these are also being assessed by the South African Frog Re-assessment Group [SA-FRoG]). We have also included an additional worksheet detailing the LC species that are already under assessment. Please note that assessments that are not highlighted for changes will be channeled through the review process with current content.

We would be very grateful if you could please provide feedback based on knowledge of the above to Jeanne Tarrant (jeanne...@ymail.com). We will make sure to add new information and any new contributors to the assessment(s) in question. Also, please let us know if you are aware of any experts that are not part of the African Amphibian Googlegroups so that we can also add them to the email list.

Thank you in advance for any help with this initiative.

Kind regards,

Jeanne Tarrant and Ariadne Angulo

Dear Colleagues,

I hope this email finds you well.
I am following up on the request sent out on 17 October regarding input toward IUCN Red List assessments for Least Concern (LC) Sub-Saharan (continental) African Amphibians. Many thanks to those of you have since made contributions. We are extending the deadline for a further two weeks, so please use this opportunity to provide any new information that may result in a status change for these species.

We have also included an additional worksheet detailing the LC species that are already under assessment. Please note that assessments that are not highlighted for changes will be channeled through the review process with current content. I have highlighted species for which we have so far had feedback on.

We would be very grateful if you could please send any additional knowledge that may help to me by 23 November 2012. We will make sure to add new information and any new contributors to the assessment(s) in question. Also, please let us know if you are aware of any experts that are not part of the African Amphibian Googlegroups so that we can also add them to the email list.

Thank you in advance for any help with this initiative.
