Organizational Capacity Statement
Capacity Africa is an organization that was founded in 1996 by a group of
development professionals to promote quality capacity building among
development professionals and communities in Africa.

The organization has initiated training programmes in Kenya, Somalia,
Ethiopia, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo and Southern Sudan
training over 3500 development workers in the last ten years.

We have collaborated very closely with Action Aid Kenya, Unicef Kenya
Country Office, Undp Kenya, Unifem East Africa, Population Services
International, World Health Organization, Ministry of Health, Federation
of Women Lawyers-FIDA,  Amref,  Kisumu  and Eldoret City Councils, Danish

Teachers, JRS Sudan, Christian Mission Aid, Sudanese Red Cross, Mercy

2) PROPOSAL WRITING AND FUNDRAISING TRAINING WORKSHOP

INTRODUCTION

Recent statistics have shown that many programs and initiatives being
pursued by a majority of NGOs and CBOs are not sustainable and die out
within the initial stages of implementation due to lack of adequate
funding and resources to effectively realize the intended goals. The
situation is compounded further with majority of these NGOS/CBOs depending
only one donor or none at all, while a few others have numerous donors
willing to partner with them through funding their  various proposals and
programs.
The biggest challenge facing most of these organizations is lack of
adequate appropriate in-house capacity to attract the right donors to the
organization. With the right skills and capacity, there are thousands of
donors for available to fund your projects out there. However many
organizations, unfortunately, are still grappling with key fundamentals
issues such as; where are the donors?

What projects get funding? What are  the current donor priorities are? And
how to approach donors for funding.

The Proposal Writing & Fund Raising training program is professionally
designed to address these pertinent issues in the African perspective.
This workshop will equip you and your organization with up to date
information on: modern trends in Proposal Writing & Fund Raising
Identification of donor priorities, reasons why some of your project
proposals don’t get funded, maximizing the possibilities of the internet
in accessing more resources for your projects. In addition, you will get
opportunity to meet donors and create endless possibilities for Proposal
Writing & Fund Raising for your organization. This is ‘a must attend’

TRAINING METHODOLOGY
A balanced approach, consisting of lectures, demonstrations, practical
simulations, role plays and case studies amongst other participatory
methods will be applied.
The participants will be taken through a series of indoor activities,
assignments and challenges that will challenge their current ways of
working.

COST OF THE TRAINING PROGRAMME
Charges per participant are KSHS 28,000(USD 350. The Cost covers for
tuition, two teas served with snacks, lunch (buffet), course materials and
Participation certificates. The sponsoring institution
should cater for participants travel and accommodation during the training
program.
