National Conference on
GLOBAL WARMING IMPACT ON AGRICULTURE AND ADAPTATION STRATEGIES

Global warming as is being experienced is expected to change the
world’s scenario in the long run in all spheres of human life
ultimately. Global-warming-related changes will affect the future of
agriculture in a no. of ways. Yields for many of the world's main
staple crops are bound to decline.

Developing countries will suffer much steeper declines than high-
income countries. According to some studies countries like India and
Pakistan being closer to equator would be hard hit the most by this
phenomenon.

The challenges for the planners and the scientists in Pakistan to face
the situation have become much more serious in view of higher demand
for food by the fast increasing population.

In order to debate the consequences and strategies in detail and to
create awareness on the subject a national conference on the topic
has been arranged by the Agricultural Foundation of Pakistan in the
first week of July 2010 at the Auditorium of the Meteorological
Department, Islamabad .

The detailed program is enclosed.
