Dear Friends:
I wanted to inform you about a unique leadership development opportunity to deepen knowledgearound critical economic issues, economic justice advocacy and building our collective action with another. Please pass on to your networks.
The FAITHS Program of the San Francisco Foundation and Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice (CLUE-CA) are sponsoring a Faith-rooted Economics training series which begins the evening of April 18, 2013. We have 60 people signed up and 6 more available slots.
Each session in this training program will be highly participatory, informative, and fun. With the help of skilled trainers and guest organizing and policy leaders, each session and the series will culminate with the group developing a shared analysis of our common advocacy potential, issue by issue. A shared Bay Area-wide understanding of our common economic challenges and advocacy priorities will be built for future work and collaboration.
We would like to see age, race, income, faith, and gender diversity at this training, and are hoping that a fe members per organization or congregation can attend and bring the information back to their community. We are also asking that attendees attend all six sessions which will be held every other week, though exceptions can be made for prior commitments. It meets every other Thursday, beginning next week.
As you will see from the attached flyer we will hold six sessions every other Thursday evening, from April 18 through June 27. The trainings will be held in downtown Oakland at the East Bay Community Foundation, right at the 12th Street BART station, and a donation of $10 per session is being asked to cover the cost of dinner each evening, though no one will be turned away for a lack of funding. The site is public transit friendly and there is ample street and garage parking nearby.
Please note that space is very limited. To ensure your members get a slot, please have your participants, and yourself if you are coming, register as soon as possible.
The event registration page is www.faithrootedeconomics.eventbrite.com and the password is FAITH. You will note on the EventBrite page that you have the option to pay the donation to CLUE-CA ahead of time or at the door. Let me know if you need more time or if you have any questions.
In peace with justice,
