Dear Friends in Faith--I received the e-mail message below, and a phone call describing Maria's desire to co-create an interfaith gathering in response to this week's unbelievable decision regarding Trayvon's death. She asked that I send this out for her to all of you.

Many of us want to respond to this injustice with an interfaith, cross cultural gathering in prayer or worship.  Our youth, especially youth of color, are afraid, following the verdict, for their own safety and we want to stand up beside them.

Are you interested and able to participate in co-creating this serviceIf so, PLEASE CONTACT Maria Eitz at:
mme...@gmail.com

If you know of other services that are already being planned that we could join and share, that would be welcome information, too.  Thank you and many blessings to you and your families.

Sherri Maurin.

FROM MARIA EITZ:

To all concerned,

Something is terribly wrong. I cannot take away the fears of a little girl afraid for her life on her way home from school because of the color of her skin.
I am her grandmother. I am her mother's mother.I adopted children of color from Vietnam during the war.
I am a refugee immigrant from Germany, America promised safety and hope.
Now my 11 year old grand daughter is afraid in America, my sons and daughters are angry.I am anguished again.
All across America people are made anguished, angry and afraid. Laws are given powers not only to disregard truth but to disregard the right to life.
Laws protecting rights to own and use guns to hunt and kill even when motivated by hate, greed, lust and ignorance are bad.
Bad laws need to be broken.
I am a Roman Catholic Woman Priest, I know it is right and necessary to break bad laws in order to protect everyone, all people regardless of color, culture and creed.
Let us join together to demand what is right, to demand laws that protect truth and life for all in America. Let the people rise for what is right.
