Raid is a 2023 Tamil-language action thriller film directed by Karthi in his directorial debut. It is a remake of the 2018 Kannada film Tagaru starring Shiva Rajkumar. The film stars Vikram Prabhu, Sri Divya, Ananthika Sanilkumar and Rishi Rithvik. Sam C. S. composed the music, while the cinematography and editing were handled by Kathiravan and Manimaran.
Inspector Prabhakaran sets on a crusade to finish all gangsters in the city of Chennai, where he locks horns with Daali and Chitte, who are ruthless gangster controlling the city's market with the influence of their boss Uncle. While on a police operation to encounter Uncle's aid Baby, Prabhakaran captures Daali's brother Cockroach and kils him in an encounter. Enraged, Daali, Chitte and his men shoots Prabhakaran during his morning jog, where Prabhakaran's fiance Venba gets killed in a crossfire. Distraught about Venba's death, Prabhakaran begins hunting down and killing Daali's associates, including Chitte. Prabhakaran learns that Venba's sister Venmathi is caught by the Goa Police during a raid, where he saves Venmathi. Learning that Prabhakaran is targeting him, Daali sends a hitman to finish Prabhakaran, but Prabhakaran manages to kill the hitmen and crashes into Daali's birthday bash. Prabhakaran and Daali engage in a hand-to-hand combat, where Prabhakaran finally kills Daali, thus avenging Venba's death. In the aftermath, Prabhakaran goes to solve another case.
Following the success of Tagaru (2018), the copyrights of the Tamil remake version were sold to Tamil director M. Muthaiya who has signed to remake the movie with Vikram Prabhu.[1][2][3] Sri Divya was signed on to play the leading roles, which marks Vikram Prabhu's second collaboration with Sri Divya after Vellaikaara Durai (2014). It also marked the first film project for Sri Divya in four years after her last Tamil film Sangili Bungili Kadhava Thorae (2017). Tamil remake is titled as Raid.[4]
M. Suganth of from The Times of India gave 1.5/5 stars and wrote that "This is the kind of Tamil film that doesn't even pause for a moment to consider the many extra-judicial killings that its protagonist does".[6] A critic from Vikatan wrote that "All in all, this 'raid' keeps you running in search of a headache balm of hitting someone in the name of screenplay, speaking ridiculous lines, then putting on a song and doing the same thing over and over again".[7]

The Tamil Film industry on Tuesday saw a massive crackdown by the Income Tax Department when they raided multiple locations believed to be linked to well-known financier and film producer Anbu Chezhiyan.
People aware of the situation has said that the I-T sleuths has been carrying out raids since 5am in the morning. They further informed that raids are going on in 40 places including Chennai and Madurai.
The raids come just five months after Chezhiyan's daughter's grand wedding in Chennai which was graced by celebrities from across India. Personalities ranging from Rajinikanth, Kamal Hassan, Suriya to Boney Kapoor were present at the venue. Mny politicians also attended the wedding.
Anbu Chezhiyan's nefarious ways as a film prodcuer and financier camr into light first in 2003 when G Venkateswaran, a well-known Kollywood producer and brother of ace director Mani Ratnam, was found hanging at his residence on Harrington Road.

The Income Tax department has found around Rs 200 crore worth of undisclosed income in the recent I-T raids conducted on the premises of Tamil movie producers, distributors, and financiers. The Central Board of Direct Taxes released a statement on Saturday, August 6, stating that undisclosed income exceeding Rs 200 crore had been detected during the searches and unaccounted cash amounting to Rs 26 crore along with gold jewellery exceeding Rs 3 crore have been seized.
On August 2, the Income Tax department conducted raids on multiple locations connected with film financier and producer GN Anbu Chezhiyan, and prominent producers including Kalaipuli S Thanu, Gnanavelraja, SR Prabu. Financier GN Anbu Chezhiyan's residence in Nungambakkam and Gopuram Cinema offices in Chennai and Madurai were raided for the third time.
"The searches in the case of film financiers have revealed documents like promissory notes etc., relating to unaccounted cash loans, which were advanced to various film production houses and others. In the cases of film production houses, evidence reveals tax evasion, as the actual amounts realised from the release of the films are much more than the amounts shown in the regular books of account. The unaccounted income so generated by them is deployed for undisclosed investments as well as for various undisclosed payments," the statement said. The investigation is still going on.
Madurai: The Income Tax department in Tamil Nadu's Madurai continued to raid more than 20 places owned by well-known financier and Tamil Film Producer Anbu Chezhiyan for the second day on Wednesday.
According to the sources, the IT sleuths had been carrying out raids at 40 places including Chennai and Madurai since 5 am on Tuesday. At Chennai, a team of sleuths reportedly raided a location in the Nungambakkam Kamthar Nagar area where Cheziyan is known to live.
Chezhiyan, who is a native of Madurai, is a very influential and top financier in the Tamil film industry.He received public attention in 2017 when Ashok Kumar, cousin of director Sasikumar, died by suicide with a note alleging mental torture and trauma over financial issues by Chezhiyan.

Chennai: Income Tax officials conducted raids at the premises of three pivotal actors, producers and financiers of Tamil movie 'Puli', in connection with alleged tax evasion. Sources said IT officials raided 35 premises in Chennai, Madurai, Kochi, Thiruvananthapuram and Hyderabad, at Vijay's resort and residence, Nayantara's residence, Samantha's residence and producers Shibu Thameens and PT Selvakumar's premises. Also raided were the premises of film financiers Madurai Anbu and Ramesh.
They also raided the residence and office of film producer and distributor Kalaipuli Thanu. The movie, directed by Chimbu Devan, was released on October 1. There is no confirmation if raids were held on the premises of the film director.
Chezhiyan has been under the I-T scanner since February 2020 when several Tamil film industry producers were raided. In 2020, a press release from the I-T department said that residences and offices of four people were being searched including actor Vijay, his distributor Sundar Arumugam, producer and financier Anbu Chezhiyan.
Chennai, Aug 3: The raids carried out by the Income Tax department at many places in Madurai and Chennai of noted film producer Anbu Chezhiyan continued on Wednesday.
According to information available, the I-T department sleuths are conducting search operations at 20 places of the well-known producer who had earlier been subjected to I-T raid after the release of the movie 'Bigel' starring superstar of Tamil industry Vijay. The I-T department had unearthed unaccounted money to the tune of Rs 65 crore during that raid.
It may be noted that the marriage of the daughter of Anbu Chezhiyan was held in Chennai five months ago and it was a grand gala wedding in which several Tamil film celebrities and industrialists attended. Tamil Super stars Rajanikanth, Kamal Haasan and producer Boney Kapoor were some of the noted names who had attended the marriage function of Anu Chezhiyan's daughter.
Ashok Kumar, Tamil film producer and director had in 2017 committed suicide by writing an eight-page suicide note blaming Anbu Chezhiyan's high-handedness behind his suicide. The director-producer who was the cousin of noted actor, director of Tamil film industry, Sasikumar had said that Anbu Chezhiyan had threatened to kidnap the women in the family even after he (Ashok Kumar) had paid huge money as interest and that he could not get justice from even the police.
Anbu Chezhiyan, one of the top financiers of the Tamil industry is basically from Madurai and has come his way up through small-time finances in the industry. IANS

His Gopuram Films banner has produced movies and distributed some movies in Tamil. The IT sleuths are conducting raids at 40 locations related to Anbu Chezhiyan in Madurai and ten locations in Chennai.
Notably, the IT department conducted major raids at the residences and offices of prominent financiers in the Tamil film industry on February 5, 2020. The tax department had raided around 38 prominent producers and actors in the search operation of 2020 which included Super Star Vijay.
