If you are interest in taking Math classes in the Fall, NOVA has great offer for you. We have multiple Ramp Up session for MTH 154, MTH 161/167, MTH 263 and MTH 245. If you have any question, please click on this page.

The Math Support Team is here to help you in your MDE class. You can come to us outside of class hours to ask questions and get help with your homework. We do our best to keep your time with us productive and pleasant.

To see us face to face, drop in during one of the times listed above for LC 102M. For a virtual appointment, please email us before you come at lomath...@nvcc.edu, or fill out our math support request form.

The Department of Mathematics is committed to excellence in teaching, innovative research, and providing a student-centered program. The Mathematics faculty work closely with students to create an engaging and exciting learning environment. Beyond the classroom, students can participate in programs and events designed to promote and showcase mathematics within the academic discipline.

"Doug and I worked together for 2-3 weeks to finish my online Algebra 2 course. I needed a C to pass the course. It seemed impossible due to the fact that I would not get any real instruction through the online courses textbook. Doug walked me through each concept, being patient when I didn't get something fully, and explained it again in a different way.

He was flexible with my schedule and always finished the last problem with me even if it meant going over the session time. He made me confident in my math skills and gave me excellent test taking tips and tricks!

Only good things from Doug! Really smart guy, knows his stuff, and can apply it to real life situations"

"Doug met with my 16 year who struggles in precalculus. After his first lesson, I asked my son for his feedback and he said Doug explained things really well. Doug was able to relate math to everyday stuff and therefore made it relevant for my son. Each time we had a session, my son came out of it feeling good about the material covered for the day."

"Douglas gave our two boys improved confidence after one session. They were excited to share what they learned. Douglas does a great job getting to know the students strengths and weaknesses quickly. We will definitely use him again."

Plans for the summer are underway as I will be out of town for a change of scenery. I will be bringing all my materials with me so I will still be available for sessions. The website has been updated to reflect the summer availability and offering a discount to those purchasing multiple hours at once rather than a la carte sessions week-to-week. This will be an option to provide some compromise as a cheaper option.

Do the math. A fulfilling career in mathematics can be your ticket. Accept new challenges and learn new aspects of a foundational field. Go beyond the numbers and build skills in critical thinking crucial for careers in science, business and technology. This STEM degree gives you the option to explore career opportunities across diverse fields, such as actuary, animator, banker, climate analyst, epidemiologist, pollster and statistician.

Critical thinking skills developed while studying mathematics apply across a range of fields. What about becoming a climate analyst, mathematical biologist, actuary or a computer programmer? All of those are lucrative options. Banking and teaching are always in demand, or you can continue to graduate school in a STEM field of science, technology, engineering or mathematics.

All undergraduate students may take part in CEP, no matter what major they pursue. Each rotation lasts two hours per week, for three weeks. Because this is a volunteer program, member commitments are flexible and voluntary.

Livio shows viewers through his Hubble research how centuries old, simple mathematical equations and groundbreaking insights on falling bodies and gravity by early scientists such as Galileo and Newton still permeate the universe as laws of science that can be applied to distant galaxies.

To look at what math does to the brain, NOVA studies the MRI images of a teen math prodigy who scored a perfect 800 on the SAT for Math at age 11 and compares the neuron activation in his parietal lobes with that of kids with average performance scores.

To illustrate the amazing predictive power of mathematics, NOVA selects examples that yielded highly tangible and relatable results, which are borne out all around us in the daily devices we use that require invisible waves of energy to communicate: televisions and TV remotes, radios, cell phones, satellites, baby monitors, Wi-Fi, garage door openers and GPS.

Episodes are available for viewing on demand for a limited time after each broadcast. Extend your viewing window with KPBS Passport, video streaming for members ($60 yearly) using your computer, smartphone, tablet, Roku, AppleTV, Amazon Fire or Chromecast. Learn how to activate your benefit now.

If you're interested in pursing the following health care sciences degrees, please apply using the Shark Select Transfer Application and visit the admissions links below for additional requirements.

You may submit up to a total of three letters of recommendation. The letter(s) can be completed online through the Common App Teacher Evaluation form, or you can submit the letter(s) in the supplemental items area of the NSU Shark Select Application.

Applicants who choose to have their application reviewed with test scores can self-report SAT, ACT, and/or CLT score(s) on the application for admission. Upon enrollment to NSU, official test scores must be submitted directly from the testing agency using the following information:

NSU superscores both the SAT, ACT, and CLT, so if you take the exam more than once, you must submit all of your test scores to ensure we have your best and highest composite scores on record. NSU currently considers only the critical reading and math scores for the SAT. For the ACT, NSU does not utilize the optional writing section.

The Undergraduate Admissions office is located next to the Welcome Center on the first floor of the William and Norma Horvitz Administration Building, on NSU's Ft. Lauderdale-Davie campus in Davie, Florida. Click here for a map.

Both Villanova and Eastern University alike have been ranked in the top tier of regional universities in the Northeastern United States, Villanova holding the number one spot. Moreover, U.S. News has also ranked Villanova as one of the Top 15 Best Undergraduate Engineering Programs for over 17 years.

1-3 years for Graduate Degree: After completing your Bachelors in Math at Eastern, go as fast or as slow as you want (we think you will want to go fast). Students can complete the MS portion of the program (graduate program at Villanova) in as little as one year or as long as three years. See more.

Faith Integration: At Eastern, our Math Faculty strive to learn mathematics with vigor while considering how mathematics can inform our understanding of Christ. We examine how God's creation is revealed through applied mathematics and how His Nature is revealed through pure mathematics.

Academic Community: The Eastern Math department is a community of students that develop close and supportive relationships with one another. Our faculty come alongside students as mentors to facilitate the reaching of their potential. Class sizes are small and individual attention is abundant.

Faculty Research: The Math faculty are engaged in research in functional analysis, including ill-posed problems and operator theory as well as group theory and cohomology. Work is also being done in the field of mathematical philosophy.

Academic Enrichment: The Math department offers a drop-in tutoring service known as The Abelian Group for students in any mathematics class. Strong upperclassmen have opportunities to serve as tutors in the program.

Instrumentation: Eastern's Mathematics department owns a Wolfram Mathematica site license which can be used by all current students as well as its own GNU-Linux server for its computer science courses.

Eastern University does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin in its educational policies, admissions policies, scholarships, loan programs, athletic and other programs. Read Nondiscrimination Policy.
