In fact this great man had retired from active army service in 1937--RECALLED AND MADE INCHARGE OF JAPANESE THEATER OF WAR

japanese public gave him a very affectionate farewell

Man died in 1964--- 150,000, people watched the fineral march--- 60, 000 marched past his body before burial

lady mac died in 2000, at the age of 101 yrs

Just to correct you Ambrish, Gen MCArthur did not want to bomb North Korea. He only wanted to lay Radio Active Cobalt along the line separating it from South Korea.

HARASH, he did think of it and had planned ,   ON 16 AUG 1950, five groups of B 29 bombers were used   in --CHONGSONG, CHINBO, KUSU-DONG,-FIRE REPEATED ON 22 AUG --- 12 AUG AIR FORCE HAD DROPPED 625 TONS OF BOMBS ON NORTH KOREA

BY LATE AUG, B-29 WERE DROPPING 800 TONS A DAY MUCH OF IT WAS PURE --NAPALM

Ambrish- I had the pleasure of meeting Mrs. MacArthur. After her husbands death and until her own death she lived in new york city at Waldorf Astoria Towers, which is my usual place of stay in NY. Once I even stayed in the same suite as she had occupied. In the same towers, I have met Henry kissinger, Rice and other famous politicians. US President always stays in Waldorf Towers whenever in town. I have suffered inconvenience with his presence there as they bock of 4 elevators, and the enrire lobby and outside is filled with secret service agents.

Rajesh, you have had the great pleasure of meeting Mrs McArthur wife of one of the greatest WW2 generals. We can only admire what type of person was he. You have also met many history making people. I can only admire you for that.
