This is a platform that was created, as the need to facilitate and deepen the interactions and networking among members became more critical. This is a positive and productive place to meet, connect, mentor, educate/learn and discuss issues related to the African LIS field while supporting each other. Hope you all contribute and enjoy the ambiance!

OVERALL COMMUNITY GUIDELINE

1. Attacking other members, bashing companies, slander and libel are not allowed and can result in a warning or ban. Comments that are disrespectful to others or otherwise violate what we believe are appropriate standards for professional and civil discussion may be deleted.

2. Always try to "give" back to our community. For each time you find help or answers, try to help someone else out in return. You may find that what goes around comes around...

3. Give people a little time to respond to your requests. This is a peer support community. People are busy and it may take a little time for people to notice and respond to your request. Please be patient.

4.Religious messages and chain-mails, other than that LIS related messages, must never be posted. Every issue being discussed should be with the purpose of enlightening other colleagues. The African library profession needs workable ideas, solutions ... that can move the profession/institutions forward.

5. Members are responsible for what they post and AfLIA cannot be held liable for the content of posted messages.

6. Advertisements that are library-based are allowed on this Forum. Chapters, Sections and Library-related companies and individuals could inform the group about their products and services. However, further correspondence that may not benefit all members should be communicated directly with the Announcer.

7. Please ensure that your 'subject' is relevant to the content. If the subject of discussion has changed, please remember to change the 'subject' field as well. 'Subject' helps one to sift through mails quickly. If you want your mail to be read, craft a good 'subject' for it.

8. No one is under obligation to comment on all issues being discussed on this forum. If there is nothing new to add to an ongoing discussion, kindly do not comment.

9. STRIKES RULE: We believe in giving guideline violators 3 chances before expulsion from this august online community. 1st violation, gentle warning and reminder of the rules. 2nd violation, ban warning. 3rd - you are out. Exceptions to the rule are blatant spam or overt guideline violations which can result in an instant ban. However, banned person may be re-considered after 5 months.
