G'day Guys,
After a successful and enjoyable carnival, it is time to look forward. As you are all aware Locko has completed his two year contract as Coach and I think you would all agree that he has done an exceptional job. His successes on and off the field is a reflection
of his character in what is quite a challenging appointment.
With the above in mind we need to look to next year and appoint a Coach to carry on previous good work for the next two seasons. Normally we would throw someone under the bus and hand over the reins to someone that doesn’t have “NO” in their vocabulary. This
time we thought it would be a good idea to put it out to all club members and receive nominations from those that are interested with the committee deciding on the best candidate.
For the nominations to work prospective coaches need to understand what is to be expected of them whilst carrying out the role. The following is a list of expected tasks/traits required to fulfil their duties:
- Be a committee member and attend meetings.
- Organise and run training sessions once a week.
- Organise and run Intra Club games. This includes selecting teams based on available numbers.
- Organise games against ADFA College Staff, ANU, Wildcats etc.
- Organise Teams for Interstate Carnivals.
- Organise Teams for National Carnivals. This includes before and during the carnival.
- Coordinate with Team Manager the hiring of Grounds for training and game days.
- Be available as the communication conduit for any training or game related events.
- Needs to be a good communicator and prepared to have robust conversations whilst remaining respectful should the need arise.
- Maintain Club Values at all times.
- Needs to have the respect of players and also be respectful of players.
- Understand the role is a two year commitment, this should not be underestimated.
- Maintain composure whilst receiving annoying texts and emails from dunderheads who don’t read information sent to them previously, and previous coaches that will not let go of how good they were.
As in previous years the support you would receive from Senior Club members at both training and game day commitments would be ongoing ensuring everyone enjoys themselves.
With the above in mind if you think you have what it takes please send me an email (you can only nominate yourself, not others) acknowledging you understand the above and are interested. The committee will then decide on the best replacement and hopefully announce
at our presentation night.
Regards
