Greetings, All,
I'm in the process of compiling examples of community-based natural
resource management (CBNRM) in Afghanistan, and one thing that is
lacking is that MAIL has not indicated, in any document I have seen,
WHAT the term CBNRM might mean. From the organizations I've
interviewed, I can say that many examples fit enough of the criteria
(as laid out on the
CBNRM.NET web site) that we could call them
CBNRM. There are certain key elements lacking in many if not all
cases, like detailed management plans and a real delegation of the
authority to manage from MAIL to villages or their representative
committees.
So, I pose the question to you, the members of the Afghanistan Natural
Resource Management group on Google: How wold you define CBNRM in the
Afghan context?
Thanks, I'm looking forward to your ideas.
Mark
