to Afghanistan Natural Resource Management
I was recently asked to comment on the response of the EC to the 2008
food crisis. I wonder if any of you have any thoughts on the response
of the wider donor community to the increase in food prices and the
rapid thaw of the winter snow and the low spring rainfall. Joel Fiddes
predicted in his MSc dissertation on the Kunduz River Basin than this
would be a trend in the future because of climatic change influences.
1) Do you think the international response was adequate?
2) How can GoA and the international community best prepare for the
impact of shrinking snow line in Afghanistan?
3) What should be the focus of the GoA and international community in
reducing food insecurity in the longer term?
