Affirmations can be, for some, compared to prayer or meditation. It's
a technique that lets you 'talk' to your higher self, to your spirit
or God and ask for something specific for yourself or for others.
Accepting yourself affirmations are pretty self explanatory, namely a
way to cope with your self esteem problems. Using such affirmations
can help you feel better about yourself and increase self esteem or
confidence, thus taking control of your own life.
Affirmations change the negative thoughts you have about yourself to
positive ones and after practicing them for a while you will become
more assertive, self-confident, and happier. When you accept yourself
as the person you are, you also learn to be kinder and more accepting
of those around you. You realize that everything doesn't revolve
around you and your needs. Thus, practicing affirmations to increase
your self esteem gives you an insight on how your actions ripple down
to affect those you come in contact with, which in turn enables you to
build better and healthier relationships. Self esteem affirmations
helps you understand that others can love you and that you can love
others as they are without judgment and without receiving something in
return.
There are various ways to perform affirmation exercises; some prefer
to just think that while some like to say the affirmation out loud or
listen to affirmation tapes or CD's to make it more real. If you
create your own affirmations you should write them down, as seeing
them in actual printed (just to see them stated in clear) text can
help.
If you are new to the affirmation technique you should,
write down your affirmations for increasing your self confidence
read them out load and record them
listen to the tape (and listen to it) through ear phones as often as
possible for one week.
After you're finished, ask yourself, "Am I more self confident now
than I was one week ago?" The answer may surprise you.
