AWG get-together

dear affect working group,

the date/time that the most people are able to attend is wednesday, june 13, 5-7pm. but, it turns out that the sociology department is holding its year-end dinner on wednesday, june 13, starting at 6:30pm, and, because a number of AWG folks happen to be sociologists, i've set up a new doodle poll to see if the AWG can meet from 4-6pm instead of 5-7pm on that date. if you've already filled out the poll, you can simply edit your entry.

It might not be a bad idea to postpone the end of year party to a beginning of year one - only because everyones dept will be having functions of some description and many people are also going out of town immediately after the quarter is over. Just a thought...

i'm hoping that the earlier, 4-6pm time slot will reduce time conflicts. even if the group is small, it would be nice to reconnect. 

more practically, the reason to get together now rather than at the start of fall quarter is to talk about events we plan to hold next year. carla and i have begun to plan the conference but it would be great to hear from others who might have ideas about speakers and format for the conference itself and a UC-wide affect network meeting the following day. we also need to plan a second "affect across the disciplines" event, which we had intended to hold this year, but never pulled together. if we plan it now, we can hold the event early in fall quarter.
