Just finished the Biomed Exam and wanted to fill you in on it...
SET UP:
You have 100 questions and 2.5 hours to do it. You get 8 laminated pages and a marker to write on for scrap paper. You must answer every question in the order it is asked but you can flag any question for review and go back to it later. Your results are mailed to you 30-40 days after the final day of that section of Biomed (in this case, that's 30-40 days from June 30th).
QUESTIONS:
A variety of topics were covered more than others. Please bear with me as my mind is kind of like jello right now, but I'm just making a list of things I recall and stuff I'd consider looking more at:
LEGAL ISSUES - What to do with sexual abuse px, underage px, child abuse sitch, and unsigned HIPAA forms
CLEAN NEEDLE - What it is, what the steps are
OSHA - What they look out for
HEP B - 3 questions on how you get it, etc.
VITAMINS - What deficiencies look like of certain ones, etc.
WHEN TO CALL 911- Had at least 3 questions with a patient presenting certain symptoms and you had to determine how severe they were and how you should react.
COLON CANCER: Early signs, tests for
KNEE INJURY: Tears/inuries in different muscles, etc. around it and how it will show up
GENERAL THOUGHTS:
Guess what? I think it's do-able. That doesn't mean I passed, but really, I think with some hard work and luck it can come together. In general, there were some questions that were REALLY easy, some that were REALLY crazy (how the hell would I know that?!) and more that you could at least narrow down to two.
I have faith for you all!!!
xoxo,
K
