I went into The Pickup expecting silly laughs, but it surprised me with so much more. The action is fast, the comedy lands well, and the story unfolds with real momentum. Eddie Murphy and Pete Davidson are the perfect odd couple, while Keke Palmer adds depth and fire to the mix. The film doesn’t take itself too seriously, which makes it even better. Between the wild chase scenes and witty banter, there are also moments that feel grounded and genuine. I caught this movie on Afdah, and honestly, it’s one of the better action-comedies of the year.
