Nicolas Cage is absolutely haunting in this one. The Surfer (2025) isn’t what I expected—it’s not flashy or packed with action. It’s slow, quiet, and deeply unsettling in the best way.

The story follows a man who returns to his childhood beach with his son, only to be rejected by the locals who’ve claimed it as their own. What starts as a small conflict becomes a full-on mental and emotional collapse. But he doesn’t leave. He stays. And it’s that stubbornness that makes the movie so powerful.

Cage plays it raw. You can see every bit of pain in his eyes as he loses everything—his comfort, his sanity, even his place in the world. The silence, the heat, the loneliness—it all hits hard.

It’s a psychological slow-burn that leaves a mark. If you’re into character-driven stories that explore pride, isolation, and survival, you should absolutely check this one out.

I watched it on Afdah—definitely worth the time. Let me know your thoughts if you've seen it too.
