This problem occurs when a DStv decoder that is in use and with an active subscription simply refuses to boot. When you switch on your decoder, it loads for an eternity without entering the menu. Now, before you hard reset this device, first try the simplest troubleshooting as follows:
If you have something like what is in the picture below or your decoder fails to scan any channels upon startup, then this might help. I am saying that your decoder is not new, and it has been working previously without any issues.
In most cases, your decoder will refuse to display channels if your coaxial cable is unconnected to the decoder. Also, if the cable is broken or the LNB is faulty, you will have problems getting channels. Finally, you can also have this problem if your DiSEqC switch is damaged. However, for all the problems listed above, your DStv decoder will display the E48(bad signal error). Please take note of this. However, if yours is not having such an error code. Then the next method will fix it for you. Read more on how to fix decoder hardware errors here.
Thank you but pls I have the following challenge.
After booting my decoder, the date is on Thu 01, Jan. Pictures will not show. This can remain here for about an hour. Then the date will change to current date. After another 20 minutes of current date showing, pictures will now appear and I will have very good signal quality.
Hi Lemmy, I need your help. My explora is working fine, the issue is that after the daily maintainence it does not automatically switch back on. I have to do it manually by using remote. I had tried to pair the TV (samsung) remote to the decoder which was unsucessful. This issue started after that. How do i go back to the original, automatically switching on status?
It actually worked for me when I tried the second option. My subscription was however suspended after booting recovery. Otherwise many thanks for your priceless advice. I now have to deal with account suspension issues
I have a DSTV explora ultra. The standby button is green it does not respond to the remote or any button on the decoder. When i unplug the power source and plug it back it boosts to 100%, shows the DSTV logo and then the screen goes blank. The green light stays on.
Hi , I have an Explora 2A that keeps rebooting, but when there is no LNB cable connected, it boots successfully, as soon as I connect the LNB cable, it will work for like 5 min and reboot again. Please help.
@Abie.: It is very obvious that either your LNB cable or your LNB is faulty. Please ask your installer to help you trace and fix it before it causes damage to your decoder. you can as well search to see if there is any opening on the cable where water is sipping through
@Mashudu: please disconnect your LNb CABLE AND POWER CORD THEN RE-CONNECT ONLY THE POWER CABLE AND SEE IF YOUR DECODER COMPLETES THE BOOT-UP Process successfully. If it does, then, you know where your problem lies.
Hi Lemmy, I can not get out of Installation Wizard. I have switched off and on, with P+ it return back to the menue. It shows that there is no signal on the two bars. It is amodel DSTv HD model 4UCan you please help.

My Dstv decoder does not want to load anymore. I tried plugging it out and removing the card. Did not work! I unplugged from power source; held P+ and whilst plugged in again kept P+ and the release and in quick succession pressed P-P+P+P-, but it still did not work. Please help!
Hi Lemmy, I have an extraview setup with Explorer 1 as primary and 1131 as secondary decoder. The LNB says it is unicableTM/SATCR.
The problem I have is the 1131 is rebooting whenever I change a channel. It will sometimes reboot a few times before coming back on on that channel. I have tried the unplugging and reboot procedure numerous times with no change in behavior. Is this likely to be a hardware fault on the 1131?
Assuming the 1131 is faulty, I am considering replacing it with a 6S or possibly an explora 3 as they are currently available at a good price. Can these be used in place of the 1131 without having to change the rest of the installation barring using HDMI in place of RGB cables to the tv?
Many thanks
I have a twin long neck universal LNB with two LNB cables via switch in roof to Explora 1 and one LNB cable from switch in roof to 1131. There is a separate 16m heartbeat cable between the two rooms. Explorer in lounge and 1131 in bedroom.
Good day
