You refer to a term I have not heard of in your operation manual, "Flash Port", is this a commonly used programming method, is it encrypted and can any iPhone or Android work? Is there an App. and how much does it cost?
The FlashPort is a unique way for The Annunciator to receive programming for both itself as well as the connected
AES IntelliNet Radio. The FlashPort receives the data via pulses of Light from your iPhone4+ or Android phone equipped with a "Flash" for the camera. The Camera Flash is utilized to send the messages to the FlashPort. The phone Apps are stand-alone (no internet connection is required) and do not require any additional hardware (I.E. an AES Handheld Programmer). And Yes, the data is encrypted before being "Flashed" out. The FlashPort utilizes Visible Light Communications (VLC) so you must be within about 8 inches of the sensor for it to work. All Annunciator, and some AES Radio, Programming and Diagnostic commands are all available via the FlashPort on the ASI Annunciator.
Does the ANNR38 need much programming and can the 7788 AES Radio also be programmed with your iPhone or Android using the Annunciator?
The Annunciator allows programming for display of Custom Text and Zone Descriptions as well as Relay Outputs and a few other optional settings. You can program The Annunciator via an AES 7061 Handheld Programmer, or using an iPhone or Android App via the FlashPort. Pass-thru programming is available to the AES Radio using the handheld programmer without the need to disconnect The Annunciator. Some AES Radio commands are also available via the Annunciator's Flash-Port (Account Number/Cypher Code, Zone Configs, Reset RAM...).
Technically the annunciator is listed as a NFPA 72 and UL 864 9th Edition compliant accessory, it cannot act as a FACP, so where and how will it be utilized?
The ASI Annunciator can be used in many cases where the AHJ requires local display and annunciation of standard Waterflow, Valve Tamper monitoring. The piezo is loud enough to direct the AHJ to the equipment from outside and the LCD display will indicate the alarm or trouble condition(s). The two configurable relay outputs can be used to trigger external devices upon alarm/trouble/supervisory conditions and can also be used to reset remote devices with momentary closure when the Relay Reset button is pressed (configurable for one or both relays to respond).
Sold separately or in its' steel enclosure with cutouts for the visual display of: alarm, supervisory, trouble, silenced and ready status indicators, how far from the 7788f can the annunciator be installed?
You can mount the ASI Annunciator directly in the AES Radio can, but it will not be visible unless you open the door. The Annunciator is also available in its own stand-alone locking can which has cutouts for the piezo and display and would be required to be installed within 20 feet of the Radio and the connecting 6-conductor wire would need to be in conduit.
