Hello
The department AEA elections will be held tomorrow as per the following
schedule:

Date: 16 March 2012 (Friday)
Time: 10 am to 4 pm
Venue: Aero office (in Aero main building)
Voting will be by secret ballot (paper).

Please follow the following rules:
a. A voter can put tick to one option only on the ballot paper. Any other
thing will make the vote invalid.
b. Voters should bring their IIT Bombay student ID cards while coming to
cast their votes. Otherwise, they won't be allowed to cast the vote.
Voters have to sign on the roll list kept in the office prior to casting
the vote.
c. Any misdemeanour will be *strictly* dealt with and may result in vote
penalty and in severe cases, the candidate getting debarred from future
AEA elections.
d. Candidates shouldn't influence the voters in any way tomorrow.
e. The timings of the election will be strictly enforced.
f. The decisions of the election committee will be final, binding and
irrevocable.

Procedure for counting:
a. For unopposed candidates: Out of the total valid votes, let x be the
number of 'Yes', y the number of 'No', z the number of 'No definite
opinion'. For the candidate to be elected

x/(x+y) > 0.5.

b. For opposed candidates: Out of the total valid votes, let a_1 to a_n be
the number of votes won by the candidate 1......n, respectively. Let b be
the number of 'None of the above' and c be the number of 'No definite
opinion'. For the candidate i to be elected

a_i/(a_1 + a_2 + ....... + a_n + b) > 0.5.

c. A vote is invalid if a voter marks more than one choice.

d. If there is no winner by the above formula, we can have re
elections/nominations with fresh set of candidates.

Hope you have fair and enjoyable elections!!! Do turn out to vote.
