Please refer to the following instructions and rules to be followed:
1. Candidates contesting for General Secretary should be proposed and
seconded by two other students of the department who must have spent a
minimum of 5 semesters in Aerospace Department. Students with Active
Backlogs will be deemed ineligible to file nominations. The active CRF's
of students filing nominations will be checked.
2. A student can either propose or second only one candidate.
3. Any election officer cannot propose / second a candidate for elections.
4. A candidate is required to submit his / her manifesto to the Election
Officer with a proposal and second.
5. The candidate after filing nomination should send one soft copy each of
the manifesto and candidate's passport size photograph to the election
officer at
ysc...@aero.iitb.ac.in and the faculty incharge at
pjg...@aero.iitb.ac.in latest by the deadline mentioned, with subject
heading <Post>, AEA Elections 2012.
6. Any improper manifesto will be immediately rejected.
7. No posters or banners can be put up in the Department premises.
8. Any form of campaigning should not contain any offensive / indecent
comments or remarks. Anti campaigning is strictly prohibited.
9. Any mode of e-campaigning (e-mail, SMS, telephonic campaigning etc.) is
strictly prohibited.
10. All students possessing valid I-cards are eligible for voting. To
exercise the franchise, every voter must produce his/her valid IIT
identity cards, when demanded by the Election Officer.
11. In case of only one candidate contesting for any post, there will be
YES / NO voting and the candidate will be declared elected only if he /
she secures 50% of the total valid votes cast.
12. In case there are no nominations filed for a particular post OR no
candidate is declared elected, then the current council shall co-opt a
suitable candidate for the post.
13. The decision of the Election Officer shall be final and binding on all
matters pertaining to the elections.
Eligibility Criterion
14. Candidate should be student of Department of Aerospace Engineering.
15. A candidate is allowed to contest for 'only one of the declared posts'.
16. Contesting candidates should have no backlogs or dropped courses. A
clear academic record is mandatory.
17. For the post of Department General Secretary, any student who has
completed 5 semesters in Department of Aerospace Engineering and not
passing out before the end of the coming academic year is eligible to
contest for this post.
Electorate
18. The electorate for the election of General Secretary will be entire
student community of the Department of Aerospace Engineering.
19.. The electorate for the election of Class Representative will be the
respective batch of the candidate.
