  Dear Friend,
 
  Professor S.Narasimhan, AERO, MIT, passed away on 12 May 2012.
 
  On hearing the tragic news, I went to Chromepet , paid my last respects to him
  and offered my heartfelt condolences to his wife and the members of his family.
 
  Prof. SN was an outstanding teacher. MAY HIS GOOD SOUL REST IN PEACE !

I vividly remember the first class Prof S. Narasimhan has taken in 1957 when we joined Aero Faculty. I was amazed at the way he dealt complex problems with  fundamentals when teaching  low and high speed aerodynamics. I have cultivated the same in my academics and approach for problems in my profession which is useful even now. He has also been extremely helpful during the course in all the three years and also gave  useful guidance  for choosing a profession after leaving the Institution.
 
The last I saw him is at his home in Chromepet, along with Prof Moghe my 9th batchmate who is settled in USA when Moghe was offered an assignment in MIT almost 10 to 12 years back.
 
Lastly, he had a wit to start the class in a lighter vein before taking long lectures in aerodynamics which he made extremely interesting. Throughout  we felt very close to him and always spoke about him whenever  our batch-mates meet.
 
May his soul rest in peace and pray God to give courage to his family to face the grave calamity.
