Dear all,

The first transport committee meeting ( Attended by:Anju Kapur, Shalija, Roona from PTA,  and Arti didi, Amrita didi, Jaspalji from the school), was held on Tuesday the 27th .  The issues which were proposed to be discussed at the PTA were taken up.These are detailed below along with the decisions taken and in some cases the school's response:

1. BUSES DELAYED:It was pointed out that many buses are delayed in the morning and afternoon time.

 School responded that:

* The issue of over capacity and delay of Route M10/M11 has been resolved. The routes are now reaching school on time. Further, the school is working on resolving morning delay issues of Route M6/ M1/ M4/ M2. The report of M15 getting late on mondays  will be looked into.
* Afternoon delays from school are being streamlined ensuring that the buses leave school on  the scheduled time.  A wall clock will be placed  in each group and a gong shall be played to announce the departure time. School is also exploring the possibility of opening another gate for few buses to park within the school's premises so the children can board the buses while inside the school. This will also result in fewer buses parked outside the school.

2. Transport committee shared the biggest concern that is the whole of the opposite side of NH8 i.e Sector 17, Sheetla mata mandir road, bestech, Palam Vihar, Sectors 21,22, 23, 23A, Maruti area, Gurgaon One, and Kapashera are covered by just 2 routes, namely M10, M11 (morning).  The said routes are very long. Given the conditions ofthe roads and traffic the children are in the bus for as long as 1 to 1.5 hours.  The TC urged the school to add more buses to this route ensuring  reduced travel time so that no child spend more than 40 - 45 minutes in the bus.

The school representatives responded that:

  * All the routes are  rationalised twice a year i.e during the Winter and Summer break.  Accordingly, all routes will be revisited for any modifications/ additions at that time. THUS, ANY PARENT SEEKING TRANSPORT CAN APPLY IMMEDIATELY SO THAT THE SCHOOL GETS A REALISTIC NUMBER OF SEATS NEEDED PER ROUTE, INORDER TO RATIONALISE THE ROUTES.

3. PHONES ON BUSES:  We discussed the concern of absence, non-responsive and/or non-functional phones or routes carrying phones other than the one assigned to the route. This results in lack of communication with both school and parents.
The school members responded that:

* The school tries to ensure that the mobile phones (after being duly checked whether the instrument is working or not and is charged and that it is the number belonging to the route)) are being handed over to the bus staff by the security guard.

* However, going forward, it has been suggested that the parents must not call the bus conductors directly.  The parents are advised to contact the bus route reps ( in the process of being selected) and or the transport department  for any queries regarding their respective routes. Once the bus route reps are formalised, they will have access to the bus and school contact numbers and will coordinate for the parents.

3. CCTV INSTALLATION AS PRESCRIBED BYTHE HARYANA POLICE GUIDELINES: The school responded that they are looking into this.

4. BUS ROUTE SUPERVISOR: We suggested assigning a bus supervisor for every 5 buses. The school members responded that:

* Every route has been allotted a route incharge i.e a teacher who checks the bus attendance and supervises timely boarding  and departure of the bus.
*The bus keys and phones are deposited with the security guards after the buses are parked in the school premises to avoid misuse or tampering.
* The Guard ensures the phones are checked and in working condition when handed over to the bus staff.

5. ISSUE OF CONDUCTORS STANDING IN GROUPS OUTSIDE SCHOOL:

School is ensuring that the drivers and the conductors stay in their respective buses. Additionally, the school has requested that the parents / teachers must ensure that all personal drivers are advised to stay inside their cars and not to stand in groups outside the school.

6. AFTERNOON AND MORNING BUS DUTY:

* Once the bus reps are identified, the reps can help identify parents who can do afternoon  duties.
 * Parents  who are delaying and/or not turning up on their committed morning duties will be sent an email from their respective bus route rep.
* Additionally, parents, holding  up the bus at the bus stops causing unnecessary delay, shall also receive an email from the route reps.

7. Transport committeeis exploring possibility the school to tie-up with DCP Traffic to conduct training workshops for maid didis, conductors, drivers etc.  The school responded positively and shall plan one.

You all may please share these with your classes.

Thanks & Regards,

Anju Kapur
