ACTUAL CITIZENS: SOCIAL WORK WITH YOUNG OFFENDERS

4-days Partnership-building activity for NGOs, Public bodies and Institutions working with young offenders.
End of October, 2013 – Palermo, Italy

InformaGiovani is looking for partners, working in the field of Juvenile Justice and especially involved in social inclusion of young offenders in European Programmes (such as Youth in Action, Europe for Citizens, Daphne, Progress, etc) interested in participating in a partnership-building activity in Italy.
Aim of the activity is to promote cooperation, exchange of good practices and working methods in order to shape future co-operation on actual projects aimed to inclusion of young offenders.
The application will be submitted aty the 1st February deadline of Youth in Action.

During the activity, participants will have the possibility to:

- share good practices, methods and experiences in the work with young offenders;
- exchange experiences and knowledge of the work done with European Programmes and non formal education as tools for social inclusion of young offenders;
- explore difference approaches in Juvenile Justice methodologies in the involved countries;
- establish new contacts and partnership between the concerned organizations and institutions;
- discuss possible development of inclusive future projects.

Applicant profile.

The association for social promotion “InformaGiovani” was established at the end of the year 2001 and it is onvolved in Youth information, training,  inclusion and volunteering. Within this frame of streams of activities, since 2008, the association has a permanent formal co-operation with different bodies of the Italian Ministry of Justice, with a double aim:
- organize, promote, running and evaluate local and international voluntary projects and youth exchanges, involving young offenders in probation period, as part of their social rehabilitation period;
- train social workers of the juvenile penal system on the potentialities of local and international volunteerism as a tool for social inclusion and rehabilitation and on the use of Youth in Action and Europe for Citizens programmes as tools to promote youth social inclusion and active citizenship of youth at risk.

Since 2009, InformaGiovani is leading an informal European network on social volunteering recognized by the EACEA, using volunteering as tool for social inclusion, with members in Croatia, Estonia, Iceland, Italy, Greece, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Moldavia, Spain, Armenia, Ukraine and partners in many other European and non European countries.

Financial conditions

The project will cover:
- 70% of travel expenses;
- 100% of food & accommodation

Conditions  and requirements for partnerships are:

-  have had  experiences with activities focused on social inclusion of young offenders or Juvenile justice. This is a COMPULSORY REQUIREMENT for being partner in the project;
- have had  previous experience in the organization or participation in European projects
- being from one of the Youth in Action Programme Countries (EU27 + Iceland, Norway, Liechtenstein, Switzerland, Croatia, Turkey)
