Please see Engineers Australia’s new report Strengthening the engineering workforce: Solutions to address the skills shortage in the short, medium, and long term.

 

I would encourage all of those interested to review EA’s observations on the emerging challenges on attracting and retaining engineering students and the suggested initiatives to address these challenges.

Advocate for government to develop targeted policies that encourage women and mature engineers to remain in, or return

to, the engineering workforce.

Advocating for the government to consider creating senior technical engineering roles in the Australian Public Service. This measure would ensure that highly qualified technical engineers may continue to build upon specialist knowledge while enjoying career progression in the public sector.
