We are trying to model potential movements from the recent earthquake near Muswellbrook using a program (slope W). The modelling is just for our understanding to help in the assessment of existing potential earthquake damage.

It is not for anything critical.

There are a few inputs that we need some guidance on.

Particularly:     horizontal + vertical acceleration coefficients

Typical Damping ratios for soil, clay and clayey rock.

Typical Gmax for soil, clay and clayey rock -( we have more idea on these values than the two above)

Hi Adam,

I don’t explicitly publish the “acceleration coefficients” (though I do calculate them), but this GA Record which I managed to publish a couple of days before Christmas explores the ground-motion intensities from the Muswellbrook sequence.  It may be of use, and also of broader interest to the society.

Allen, T. I. (2024). Summary of recorded ground motions from the 2024 Muswellbrook, NSW, earthquake sequence, Geoscience Australia Record 2024/60, 27 pp, doi: 10.26186/150058.

Cheers,

Trev
