Hello AEES Members,
Please find below some information on AEES-related news, for your attention.
AEES Conference
Registrations for this year's AEES Conference, being held between 26-28 November in Launceston, Tasmania, are now open, and can be found here:
https://aees.org.au/shop/ Abstracts for the conference are due at the end of this month - 30 June - with
NO extensions. Abstracts should be 200-250 words long. If you've not yet started on one, and are concerned that you won't meet the deadline, think of it this way - it's ~10 words per day before it's due to be submitted, which is totally achievable! The Abstract template has been forwarded previously, but I have attached it again to this email for your convenience. It can also be found on the AEES website here:
https://aees.org.au/ Keynote Speakers are being locked in, and we will be sharing this information shortly.
Invite Your Colleagues! Please do alert your colleagues to the AEES Conference if you think they'd be interested in coming along! Remember to direct them to the AEES website for more info.
Charles Bubb Scholarship 2026
We are now accepting applications for the 2026 Charles Bubb Postgraduate Scholarship. Please see the document, attached below, for further details. Applications are to be forwarded to
ad...@aees.org.au by COB Friday 11 September 2026.
Members In The Media
After a relatively quiet start to the year, there have been a number of earthquakes over the last few months - including the M5.5 near Amata South Australia, a couple of M4.5 events near Boorowa and Orange in NSW, a sequence of <M2.0 to M3.0 felt earthquakes near Albury/ Wodonga, and a M4.5 Tennant Creek aftershock. Some of these have resulted in interest from the media; AEES Members were interviewed in the print media, as well as radio and TV. Below are links to some of the articles that feature our members.
I'd also like to bring to your attention a fascinating article and subsequent radio interview by our Immediate Past President, Scott Menegon, on how the Great Pyramids Of Giza have survived 4,500 years of earthquake ground-shaking.
Other Upcoming Conferences
· European Conference on Earthquake Engineering (ECEE) - 14-18 September 2026, Berlin
https://ecee2026.eu/· International Symposium on Lifeline Earthquake Engineering - 6-8 December 2026, Perth - more information to come.
I'm sure I've probably missed some conferences/ meetings - please let me know and I'll add it to the list.
As always, please feel free to contact me with any suggestions or concerns regarding the Society.
