Hi all,

 

Here’s an interesting article reporting a current “slow-slip” event on the Hikurangi subduction zone beneath the North Island of NZ.  Some seismologists have speculated that there may be an increased chance of having a large megathrust earthquake during or immediately after one of these events.  This possible association is still an active area of research.
