Hi!

Thank you for this amazing application. I use it everyday to help my studies.

One feature I find that I keep expecting is the ability to browse words based on JLPT level. For example, I would love to be able to browse all of the words in JLPT N5 and N4. You already have all of the filters there, but they only apply if I know what I want to search for. I'd like to be able to discover words as well.

Thank you!

Cheers,
Joey

Hi,

thanks for your kind words!

Unfortunately the "JLPT words" is a bit of a trick. Please see
https://github.com/mvysny/aedict/issues/504 for more details.

Thanks!
Best regards,
Martin

I actually have a few CSVs with the 2010 publicly released word lists from Japan. Maybe you could support importing words from csv files to lists? You already have exports, so maybe imports wouldn't be too hard? Or I could give you the lists to use.

Thank you!

Cheers,
Joey

Hi,

that sounds really interesting. What is the source of those lists please? Would you share the lists with me please? I will then feed them to the Indexer, so that the JLPT matching algorithm is very precise.

Thanks!
Best regards,
Martin

Hi, sorry for the late reply, I've been busy lately.

The source is skritter.com. Not sure if you're allowed to use them, but they're freely available if you sign up for a free account. If you can't use them, a nice feature would be able to at least import them.

They are attached to this email. Thank you!

Cheers,
Joey

I've updated the bug report https://github.com/mvysny/aedict/issues/504
with the words you sent me - good find, thank you!

However, the thing is that Aedict currently limits the results to top
200 results (for performance results). So it would be tricky to bend the
search to show all JLPT words. However, that may not be necessary now
since you have the CSV files?

Anyway, let me fix the JLPT tagging algorithm by using your CSV files as
the source of data.

Thank you,
Best regards,
Martin
