Some users are reporting the Aedict Text-To-Speech (TTS) not working: "text-to-speech engine failed: unkown error (-1)" is reported, or the phone stays completely silent. I am afraid that there is not much I can do: the TTS engine is provided by Android. The -1 unknown error comes from the Android itself, with no more information attached - silly, but that's the way it is. Your best bet is to try to change TTS settings in your phone settings (Language & Input / Text-To-Speech output), and/or try to switch to a different TTS engine. I have had success using the Google TTS Engine, which is able to speak Japanese but only when the phone is online. On some phones you can enter the Google TTS Engine settings and choose "Install voice data" to install Japanese Voice Data. With the voice data installed, the TTS engine works for me on the Cyanogen 12.1 OnePlus One phone. There are also other commercial TTS engines which you might try.
