Hi!

While Firefox was running, I did accidentally move the folder (instead of copying it) and my clippings are all gone even while copying the firefox folder back.

Can you tell me please in which file(s) they are stored?
Thank in advance!

I'm assuming that it was your Firefox profile folder that you accidentally moved?  If that is the case, you have a better chance of getting back your Clippings data if you quit Firefox before copying back the folder. But if you still have the copy of the Firefox profile folder in the location that it was moved to, you may still be able to get your clippings back.

Clippings stores its data in a database file located in your Firefox profile folder, under storage/default/moz-extension+++<identifier>.  To find the value of <identifier>, open a new browser tab and navigate to about:config, locate the preference named "extensions.webextensions.uuids", then in the pref value, search for "{91aa5abe-9de4-4347-b7b5-322c38dd9271}:" and look for the text in quotes immediately after the colon (:).

Once you know where the Clippings database files are located on your system, you can try the following:

1. Quit Firefox.
2. Open the file explorer and navigate to the database location in the copy of your Firefox profile folder, under storage/default/moz-extension+++<identifier>. Copy all the files under that location to the same database location in your "new" profile folder
3. Start Firefox, open Clippings Manager and check that all your clippings and folders are back.

If that fails, hopefully you have a recent backup of your Clippings data that you can restore.

Solved it by moving the databases from older Firefox backups, thanks to your information!

Got most of them back, minus some text emojis: ❤️ (づ◔ ͜ʖ◔)づ ❤️

Thanks for your help, have a nice Xmas!! ❤️ (づ◔ ͜ʖ◔)づ ❤️

Glad that you were able to recover your clippings!

To make it easier in the future to recover your clippings in the event of accidental deletion, consider turning on backup reminders. When the backup reminder notification appears, clicking on it will open Clippings Manager, which automatically opens the Save As dialog for saving the backup file. You can turn on backup reminders in Clippings preferences.
