Yesterday I updated Waterfox from 53.0.3 to 55.0.2 which caused half of my add-ons to no longer work properly (Clippings did though).
So I downgraded back to 53.0.3 and copied the Firefox/Profiles folder from the nightly backup back into the folder.

Now clippings still works but I get the above error every time I start Waterfox. I tried changing the Data Source folder and even uninstalling/reinstalling Clippings, no dice. After reinstalling it all my clippings and settings were still there, so I'm guessing it saves the setup somewhere? Win7 64bit btw, in case it matters.

I'd appreciate any help ... I just want to get rid of that annoying popup and have stuff working normally again.

On a sidenote - is Clippings available for Chrome? With Firefox/Waterfox breaking things all the time I'm seriously considering to switch :(

Thanks in advance :)

Make sure you have permissions to the folder where the Clippings datasource file (file name "clipdat2.rdf") is located.  The error suggests that the permissions on the folder is restricted to read-only.

Hmmm that would be weird since nothing has changed and I'm logged into the PC as admin. The file itself isn't read-only though.

Is that the file I'd have to delete in order to do a fresh install of Clippings? I mean everything worked before the 55.0.2 fiasko and I have absolutely no clue what changed.

That didn't help, I still got the error ... so I simply created a Clippings folder in my Backup folder and selected that as Data Source and now the error is gone. I still have no idea what happened, but I won't lose any sleep over it lol.

Thank you so much for pointing me in the right direction :)
