Hi all,
I don't know if you've been to the group recently but there were some
ugly posts, pages and files that I had to delete and some members I
had to ban.  Sorry if you arrived at the group and saw a lot of spam.
It was hacked and I was not receiving messages so was unaware of the
problem.  It should be fixed now and I've changed some of our groups
settings so that doesn't happen again.  I hope you and your children
are doing well.
Thanks,
April

Hello April,
I recognized nothing unusual during the last days with the group.

Mia got today a new bloodcheck. The results we 'll get next week. But I really think, that she needs more zinc. She's tired and will not walk for longer distances or climb up our stairs.

How do you rcognice the need of more zinc supplement?

Greetings, Betty

Sorry for the delayed response...

How did Mia's blood check go? Claire recently had one and all is
well. Her zinc was very high but she did get her blood drawn shortly
after taking her morning dose. She is currently in a flare up even
though her levels are fine. She has a mild rash under her lip and a
rash on her bottom that has gotten infected. Same thing that happens
every now and then. It will clear up soon, I'm sure.

If Mia is really tired she might need more zinc. ?? How much does
she weigh? You can calculate about how much she needs. It's 1-3mg
zinc per kg body weight. Claire is on the high end of dosage however,
each person is different. I hope you get some answers soon and Mia is
feeling better. What tests were drawn, do you know? Claire gets
zinc, copper and alkaline phosphatase levels checked.

Hello,
Mia gets now, after the blood check, 12,5 g zinc. She weighs 12, 5 kg. But her iron (ferrum) is low, so she has to take more iron than bevore.
Her skin is fine. I hope, that she'll be fit in a few days with more zinc and iron.
Greetings, Betty

That's good Betty.  Hopefully she will start feeling more energetic.  I'm sure she will.  Low iron makes you so tired and along with low zinc she was probably pretty fatigued.  It shouldn't take long for her to get her energy back.  :)

hey all. ben again. over the past few months i switched from zinc
sulfate to zinc gluconate because it was just way easier on the
digestive system. however, it just is NOT doing the trick for me. i
decided to switch back to sulfate because it can clear up symptoms
about five times faster than gluconate. i can take two 220mg pills a
day of the sulfate and its like taking nine of the 50 mg gluconate
pills (of which i only usually take three). remember that sulfate
levels or different in measurement than gluconate levels. when your
kids get old enough to handle it, i suggest switching to sulfate.
thats about it. hope the kiddos are doing well. cheers.

Thanks Ben,
Claire started out with sulfate but then we switched to gluconate
about a year ago. She's fine most of the time although right now is a
flare up. Weather change maybe?? I appreciate you posting. If I
notice too many flare ups I may switch over to sulfate again for a
while and see how it goes. Before, diarrhea was an issue so we saw
worse results with it since the zinc wasn't really getting absorbed.
However, she's older now and could possibly handle it better.

Where/what brand do you buy that contains the sulfate? Most things I
see OTC are gluconate. We had an Rx last time for the sulfate.

Also, what were your symptoms when the gluconate wasn't doing the
trick or rather when you don't get enough zinc?

Thanks!
April
