Subject: Call for Presenters: Teacher Summer Institute at the Indy Art Center - $250 Stipend
Dear art educators,
The Indy Art Center is excited to announce our Call for Presenters for this year’s Teacher Summer Institute- a studio-based professional development experience designed specifically for K–12 art educators.
We are seeking passionate educators, teaching artists, and creative professionals to lead engaging, classroom-ready sessions that support both artistic practice and teaching for artistic thinking.
- Session length: 1 hour
- Stipend: $250 per session
- Location: Indy Art Center, 820 E 67th St, Indianapolis, IN 46220
Session Topics Include:- The Artist-Teacher Mindset
- Focus: Creative identity, studio practice
- Avoiding burnout
- Building sustainable creative habits
- Teaching 3D in Limited Spaces
- Focus: Clay & Sculptural Thinking
- Kiln access alternatives
- Air-dry and low-budget options
- Assessment Without Killing Creativity
- Focus: Taking the focus off of the grade
- Rubrics that support process
- Digital Art in the K–12 Classroom
- Focus: Building confidence with digital tools
- Differentiation across grade levels
- Managing shared devices and equitable access
- Beyond the Project: Teaching for Artistic Thinking
- Focus: Learn strategies to encourage inquiry, experimentation, and revision
- Explore the difference between projects and artistic thinking experiences
- Identify key habits of mind used by artists and designers
Sessions should be interactive and provide practical strategies that educators can immediately bring back to their classrooms.
