Globalization in My Eyes

Today we find our world is like a village than ever before. Goods move more rapidly and people communicate more frequently.

Some people are positive on it. However, others oppose it. They think the spread of global cultures will flatten the local traditional cultures. Even some ones fear that the western values will dominate the other nations, and then weaker countries will give up their own cultures.

Every coin has two sides. We must analyze globalization from long-term profit. Some ones ever complained about Christmas Day. They said that it was welcomed by youngsters and they would gradually forget Chinese traditional festivals. Indeed, Christmas Day is very popular among Chinese people in recent years. When the Christmas Day is coming, the street is decorated with color lights, trees and the posters of Santa Claus. People will greet others with Merry Christmas.

It is a typical example of Westernation. People are curious about the outer world. They are eager to exchange different information with other nations. Firstly, Christmas Day will not take place of Spring Festival. It is shared by Chinese people and they take pleasure from it. Secondly, goods move. People move. Ideas move. And cultures change. During the process, both old and new tend transform each other. In other words, different cultures can co-exist.

From the text, the author told us a Jewish gathering in shanghai, a Chinese city. The rabbi was neither Chinese nor Jewish, but felt at home. It was part of the Jewish history that Jews went all over the world. They received a lot from local cultures, but they also maintained their own identity.

We can conclude that there are things in common in all cultures. This is based on mutual understanding and co-existence. We should try to go beyond the confusion. Everybody learns to respect and appreciate other’s religions and cultures.

Globalization is a reality, not a choice. There will be a co-existence of transformed cultures, not a Mcworld.

The author begins the article with a simile. Then she illustrates two
examples of the mixing of the cultures. These are two typical
illustrates of globalization. The author analyzes them one by one. In
the conclusion remark, the author uses synecdoche and makes clear her
views of globalization. She points out that globalization is the
inevitable and we should respect and appreciate other’s religions and
cultures. Therefore, the development of ideas and the conclusion
emerge naturally and logically.
