Ad Performance Report Results

Hi,

Recently I've tried to export report from Google Adwords to BigQuery using script inside google adwords with this details :

  REPORTS: {NAME: 'Adwords_Campaign_Report', NAME2: 'AD_PERFORMANCE_REPORT', CONDITIONS:' WHERE Impressions > 0 ',

     FIELDS: {

'Date' : 'Date',

'CampaignName' : 'String',

'AdGroupName' : 'String',

'AdType' : 'String',

'Clicks' : 'Int64',

'Conversions' : 'Float64',

'Cost' : 'Numeric',

'Impressions' : 'Int64',

               }

However the sum of clicks and impressions on daily level are lesser than the results coming from campaign_performance_report and adgroup_performance_report when aggregated in ad group or campaign level. Could you please help me?

Where do you aggregate the campaign and adgroup performance reports? Do you have a different script that exports this report and in which you use to compare the BigQuery Exporter results? Kindly provide the script names and your CID of where the script/s were created so that I could check this on our end and assist you further. You may send them here or privately via the reply to author option. If this option is not available at your end, you may send it through our email (googleadsscr...@google.com) instead.

 

Any other information is highly appreciated so that I can better understand what caused the issue.

Hi Harry,

I modified the script from https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/solutions/adsmanagerapp-bigquery-exporter and changed the report details. 

For example, I will export one of our campaign :  [GDN-RMK-Dynamic-RMK] - HOTEL - APPS

  DEFAULT_DATE_RANGE: 'LAST_MONTH',

This one shows the same number as adword dashboard number.

Hi Aileen,

 

Can you kindly enlighten me more on what is the issue you are encountering? Is it a data discrepancy between the performance reports and the Google Ads UI with regard to impressions and clicks on a daily basis? Based on the screenshots you have provided, it does not seem that there is a discrepancy with the campaign performance data.

 

Any other information is highly appreciated.

Hi,

Yeah this is about data discrepancy between ad_performance_report and campaign_performance_report which I assume the campaign_performance_report is the correct one since the results are similar with the dashboard.

Thanks for coming back. I have also noticed that you are using different where clauses when you are retrieving ad (WHERE CampaignName = "[GDN-RMK-Dynamic-RMK] - HOTEL - APPS" ) and campaign (WHERE Impressions > 0) performance report respectively. Can you kindly try to update this and also check if you have set the same DEFAULT_DATE_RANGE? Let me know how it goes after trying.

 

On the other hand, would you be able to provide the script name and CID of where you are encountering the issue? Also, can you specify which are the discrepancies regarding the Ad Performance Report? Kindly provide screenshots if possible.

Hi Aileen,

 

Thanks for confirming and providing the details. As you also are filtering your reports by entity status via the UI, kindly include this also to the WHERE clause of your script as other entities with statuses other than ENABLED and PAUSED would also contribute to the results (Eg. REMOVED). Kindly let me know after trying and we'll go from there if there's still any discrepancies.

Hi Harry,

I've tried that but nothing changes. However, after deeper investigation (only on Campaign type : Display) , I think the ad level reporting didn't pull out the performance result from an 'Dynamic HTML5 ad' . I've also tried to use WHERE AdType = "Dynamic HTML5 ad" and nothing comes out even though our ad is on. Could we solve this?
