Hello,

I have been looking at a way to make the link checker run every 15 minutes or even every 30 minutes but it seems the only option in Google Ads UI is to run hourly.

Is there a way to override it?

Thanks.

Hi Henrique,

Thanks for reaching out. Yasmin here from the Google Ads Scripts Team.

Upon checking, there isn't indeed a 15 or 30 minute setting for the script to run each time in and can only be executed per hour. On that note, however, I would like to inform you that there's already a request raised for the feature to set a script to run on a per minute level, but kindly note that there will be no guarantee or definite timeline that can be provided on when this can be exposed.

I would instead recommend you keep an eye on our Ads Developer Blog for future updates and latest announcements.

Best regards,

Thanks for getting to me promptly!

In that case, can you advise why the link checker sometimes return an error but when we check the URL there are no errors? We have the link checker running hourly in our account, and a few times it returns with an error saying "url no available" or something similar then on the second time running it returns no errors. The issue here is that we are trying to implement a script that check for those errors and pause the adgroup with a bad url and un-pause the adgroup if no errors are found when the link checker runs again.
Is there anything that could cause the link checker to flag a good url as a broken one?

We would like to avoid pausing an ad group for a whole hour for no reason.

thanks.

Hi Henrique,

Thanks for getting back. Please excuse us for only getting back now as your message failed to be routed to our support queue.

Kindly refer to the How it works section of the documentation as it states there that to track its progress, the script creates a label and applies it to your ads, keywords, and sitelinks after it checks them. The script can then identify checked URLs on its next run. Once an analysis is complete (all URLs have been checked), the script clears the label for a new analysis.

Let us know if you have any further clarifications.

Thanks for your reply.

I am not sure how is that related to the script adding a URL to the results tab within the sheet and flagging and error saying "Address not Available" as if it has found a broken URL and when we check the URL it is working fine. We are OK with the fact that it adds a label to ads, keywords and sitelinks but I am not how is that related to flagging an URL as unavailable when it is available.

To expand, a few times a day we receive an email from the link checker stating:
" The Link Checker script found 1 URLs with errors across its entire
analysis."
And then links the Gsheet where we can see in the results tab what URL and the ad, ad group and keyword. However, once we load the URL flagged in the browser, there are no errors and the page displays fine. In the next run, the error is removed from the sheet.

Again, I am not sure I follow the logic between adding labels so it knows what URLs have been checked with saying there are actual errors in the URLs.

thanks.

Hi Henrique,

Thank you for providing additional context on this.

Would you be so kind as to provide the following information so we're able to further check this on our end?:
  • Google Ads account ID or CID
  • Name of the script
  • Shareable link of the spreadsheet the script is using with the links without discrepancies but retrieved by the script (You may follow this guide under Share a file publicly
  • Screenshots showing the link checked is working fine
You may send them via the Reply privately to author option. Note that you may need to join the Google Group for you to use this option. If this option is not available on your end still, you may send it through our email (googleadsscr...@google.com) instead.
