Hi,

According to the official documentation, I try to use the script of bid by weather. I've modified the table, set a wide range of weather conditions (for testing), and tested two geographies, and changed the API and URL in the code. But the bid is not changed.
I tried Preview without any errors. Could you pls check it out for me?

Here are some screenshots of my current setup:campaigns.png

Hello,

This is to confirm that we've receive the requested information privately.

As per checking, it appears that there's a implementation issue of our solution script which is why it does not work on your end. It turns out that you've created a main function on your script, then added the source code (https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts-legacy/docs/solutions/weather-based-campaign-management) inside of it (please see attached screenshot). Please do note that our source code already have a main function in it, so wouldn't need to create on your end. With that, your script should be fixed by reinstall the solution script's source code as it is, without creating a main function.

Hi,

Thanks for your help, the modified script has run smoothly (Picture 1). However, I now have a new problem:
I chose a campaign as a test object. When I set the CPC price to $1.5, the actual average click price was between $1.4 and $1.5. During this test, I adjusted the bids of all ad groups and keywords under the campaign to $1.2 and set 9 States with relatively high traffic as test samples【weather conditions are not strict at all (picture 2), the bid modifier is 1.6 (picture 3), so normally the actual average CPC should be above $1.5】. But after 2-3 days of running, I found that the actual average CPC of these 9 states is still between $1.1-$1.2 (Picture 4), indicating that the script is still not effective

I don't know what is wrong, please help me to fix it. Thank you so much!

Hello,

I would like to clarify that the bid by weather solution script's [https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/solutions/bid-by-weather] function makes a call to the OpenWeatherMap API with regard to each location and weather conditions and applies a bid multiplier to the location targeting for the campaign. It does not set the Avg. CPC of these targeted locations.

Let us know if you have any clarifications.

Best regards,
Google Ads Scripts Team

This is how I understand it, I don't know if it is correct:
For the states I'm targeting in the script, the bids are multiplied by the script multiplier, so if the campaign is set to $1, the bids for those eligible states will be $1.6.
So during the test period, the average bid for these states will be close to $1.6 (I set the weather conditions to be met at any time, so every bid will trigger the script rule; and the ads are highly competitive, and the bid for the top position will exceed $1.3) .
But now the bids displayed in these states are all below $1, which means that the rules have not taken effect.

Hi,

Please refer to the screenshot I've attached wherein it shows what the script only makes changes to, which is the Bid adjustment of the targeted locations of campaigns. Again, the bid by weather solution script's [https://developers.google.com/google-ads/scripts/docs/solutions/bid-by-weather] function only makes a call to the OpenWeatherMap API with regard to each location and weather conditions and applies a bid multiplier to the location targeting for the campaign. It does not set the Avg. CPC of these targeted locations.

Hi,

Yes, I understand this. You can see the picture I posted earlier in this thread - the Bid adj. column is completely unchanged after I enabled the script. So I'm wondering if my script is actually working. I‘m eager to find out why it wasn't working.

Best,
Andy
