Hi all,

I’m working on a Google Ads Script for a video campaign and running into an issue with location targeting.

I can successfully include or exclude locations like cities, airports, and states using the script, but DMA (Designated Market Area) locations seem to be unsupported. I’ve confirmed that I can target DMAs through the Google Ads UI, but I don’t see any corresponding "DMA" location types in the Geo Targeting CSV file provided by the Google Ads API.

So my questions are:

  • Is DMA targeting supported at all via Google Ads Scripts or the API?

  • Has anyone been able to programmatically target/exclude DMA regions?

Thanks in advance for any insights!

Hi,

Thank you for reaching out to the Google Ads Scripts support team.

I would like to inform you that the DMA (Designated Market Area) targeting is not directly supported via Google Ads Scripts. Also, in order to know whether the DMA targeting is supported in the Google Ads API, as this issue is related to the Google Ads API, I am routing this request to the Google Ads API team as they are well equipped to assist you with this.

Please note that our team can only assist with the technical queries or concerns related to the Google Ads Scripts.

Thanks,
