Hi there!!

I wanted to automate the process of including the IP addresses in IP-exclusion in bulk operations. Hence I'm looking for some API's/work-around that could help me automate this, as it is manual right now.

Appreciate any help.

Hi Praphul,

This is supported in AdWords API, but not in Scripts right now.

Cheers,

Thanks Anash.

This means that we can't automate it through adword's script right now. Hence have to take the manual way. Or there is any work around for the same.

Hi Praphul,

It's not on the immediate roadmap, but I can file a request to make this feature available in Scripts.

Hi Anash,

Another vote to add IP Exclusion to AdWords Scripts. I'm still waiting for the a stable version of the fully composer complaint PHP library for the API, and in the meantime, having details like this in the script engine would be nice.

Thanks!
Ed

Google is keeping this feature and it is NOT developing it because it does not want people to protect themselves.
This is the reason why this feature is not developed.

For instance, it is into the API but not in scripting which is much closer for Google.
And it is not in scripting because that will allow a much greater number of people to use such feature.

And where exactly did you get this information from?

From the fact that a very simple feature it is not added but there are plenty of people asking for it.

Also blocking IP's section it is the lowest feature developed.

And it is not in the Scripting where plenty of people would use it but there is in the API were only big companies will use it.

Voila my logic. This feature will never be implemented but the cost to implement is really really low.

Hi,

I'll refrain from commenting on the Script team's roadmap and timelines on implementing support for this feature. That said, one potential workaround would be to add the users you want to an user list and exclude the user list from targeting. Depending on your use case, it might be a more robust workaround, since users can visit your website from multiple IP addresses.

People asking for IP ban have one case in mind and that case is fraudsters who do not care much about "user" concept which is mainly built around cookies.

They use proxies to hide their real IP and no identification cookie is provided. And Google is charging those as well.

Refraining when this basic (basic!!!) feature will be added is enough, thank you. For me, that is never. I suspect that you do not like my reasoning why such feature will never be implemented but it will remain my opinion. Clear and simple.

Add the feature and I will shut my mouth, even appologize. Until then, for me, Google play is evil.

Thank you.

Hi,

May I suggest that you post this question on https://www.en.advertisercommunity.com/# also? I'm not an expert on AdWords, so I cannot advise you on the best strategy to address the issue that you mentioned. When you post on the forum, ask for a Google product expert, and you'll likely get a better suggestion than what I can provide.

Separately, I'll discuss the feature with the rest of the team, and let them know how much the developer community needs this feature.

Cheers

Hello Chris,

I'm James, a member of the Google Ads Script support team.

I regret to inform you that IP exclusion functionality is not yet supported via Google Ads scripts. However, I already filed a feature request on this and there’s no guarantee that this kind of functionality will be supported anytime soon within Google Ads Scripts. In the meantime, please follow our blog for updates and new releases regarding this.

Regards,
