Hi all,

Can I add Target Location(s) to Ad Customizer feed through AdCustomizerItemBuilder? Or whatever else way with Ads Script? Or is this simply not possible? The documentation (https://support.google.com/google-ads/answer/6093368 , at the bottom) leads me to believe it should be possible, and the ad customizer feed on the Business data page displays columns for "Target location" as well as "Target location restriction".

Thanks!

Hi Robin,

The documentation you have referenced is for setting up ad customizers through the Google Ads UI. In scripts, Ad Customizers can be targeted to specific campaigns, ad groups, or keywords, so different keywords can trigger different customizations. However, setting target location for Ad Customizers via the Google Ads Scripts is not supported currently. Please see the Ad Customizers guide for your reference.

On the other hand, I can reach out to the rest of the team and communicate a feature request on your behalf. However, please be informed that all requests are subject for approval and are not guaranteed to be supported anytime soon in the Google Ads Scripts. Kindly confirm if you would like me to proceed and provide a sample use case in this regard.

Thanks,

Hi Harry,

Thank you for your answer.

Yes, I would like you to proceed with putting forward a feature request.

We offer vacation products in two verticals worldwide, in different languages and currencies. Account-level is based on language and vertical, campaign-level on destinations (countries, areas, locations), topics related to the verticals, and listings. Each listing has its pricing in its own main currency, so there's daily many-to-many currency conversion to keep the pricing for our listings up to date on the site. Apart from that, listing prices are subject to offers. In order to display the most recent prices we'd like to use Ad Customizers. For this to be (most) effective, we'd like to show the prices in the country's main currency where the ad is shown. However, because we advertise across different countries using the same campaign, we can only choose one currency for this (since we can't differentiate by geo on the Ad Customizer level). We use USD because that's our largest customer base,  but showing USD prices in the UK or Australia isn't exactly optimal for ad performance. So why not add new sets of campaigns, one per currency? Because that would mean we'd have to maintain over 28 additional (practically identical) groups (going by the number of currencies we support) just for English, with the same ad groups, same ads, same extensions, same keywords, same negative keywords, etc. only differences would be geo targeting and ad customizer feeds.

Hope this makes sense. 🤞

Kind regards,

Robin

Hi Harry,

Thanks. Apart from that, I'm wondering whether adding ad customizer attributes to RSAs will ever be a thing. Is it on the roadmap already, perhaps?

Kind regards,

Robin

Hi Robin,

Unfortunately, I can't comment on the Google Ads' roadmap and we generally don't have information to it. However, I would suggest that you reach out to our Google Ads Product Team about your inquiry through this link.
